it cannot be a fuse, check your wiring form the sub to the crossover....... that's where your problem is.... I move the cables a little bit and the sub comes back to life

Can only be a few things...

Check your ground, make sure it's fully bolted down, and has a secure connection to the stock amp/ whatever it runs to.

Check the crossover... It's the little black box (usually under some gray foam). If you don't mind the turn-on "thump," disconnect the box entirely at the closest connectors. That's most likely your problem.

could it be the stock amp overheating? or going bad altogether?

^ Yup. It's connected to the amp, which is bolted directly underneath the sub.

its not the wires, its the amp circuit itself!

look at http://carstereohelp.com/

I got the fix done from them for my 01 sub. No issues anymore.

And, i found this on the internet not through the audio forum here. All the information on the audio forum is how to upgrade the music system not how to maintain the stock system.

The common consesus on audio forum is that the stock radio sucks... while that maybe the case, the factory bose is really better than some other premium audio systems i have heard, e.g. my e46 harmon kardon! which has been dramatically modified now

good luck!

how much did it cost? any clue what the problemwas and if it can be done at home?

your absolutely write about the info on the audio forums, I however love the look of the stock system, aftermarket stuff sticks out too much, and kiinda ruins the interior in my opinion.

While I agree the stock unit does look nice, a double din screen looks really good as well. When I swap the stock blows HU out that's what I'll be doing.

GL with your sub problem.

I paid about 120... and they have a lifetime warranty on the repair as long as you own the car.

I dont know what they did but i am sure there was a circuit fault that was fixed.i.e. some components replaced.

I have a big amp and it was thirsty for power and have had the same problem. It ended up being that my voltage would drop too low and I had a thermal protector on my amp. and it would always cut my amp out. I ended up getting a optima battery and a xstatic cap. And then I had all the juices I needed for my JL 13w.

not fuse at all. sounds like some wiring probs/connection or just simple overheating amp.

I have the same exact problem. I'm not sure what the technical name of the part is, (i know nothing about car audio) but if you look in the trunk directly under the stock sub, there's a black cover labeld "SPEAKER ASSY, REAR". Inside that, there's a metal square/rectangular part that is labeld "PCB ASSY 100W QR". When it's plugged in and I tap on it, the sub cuts in/out. I doubt it's the wiring because i jiggled the hell out of the wires and got nothing.

I'm almost positive (in my situation atleast) if this part was replaced the problem will go away. My car is an 01 I30 by the way.

Same problem in my girlfriend's '01 GLE. The problem lies in the wire harness that goes from the sub to the amp. If you remove it and take all the foam crap off it, it's part # 02A93P809UN. Replacing it will fix the problem, but I wonder if you could just replace one of the resistors or something...

CD Cuts out??

Hey Guys, sorry for posting this here but Im having trouble posting a new thread.
OK so here's my problem.
03 GLE, Stock everything,
My radio works fine all speakers work no prob. The CD doesnt however,
Seems like when the cd is playing its only coming out of the passenger side front and rear speakers as well as the driver rear. If the brake is applied or hitting a bump it all of a sudden sounds again. I tried looking under behind the radio and as close to the pillar speaker as possible.
any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
