Mine cuts out but that was cause the theives tried to yank out the bose. It messed up the plastic connector on the harness from fitting snug on the bose. Check to see if the connnector is messed up. Or you could just change out the front speakers to see if that helps. It could be speakers, factory amps, or the hu, just use process of elimination.

Better than just the Bose unit but changing out the speakers would give you the biggest gain in better sound. You could even just change the front speakers if you'd like. There is a how-to showing how to take apart your bose unit and fix the audio cutout; although I'd rather just replace it myself.

Replace your HU and the tweeters, if you dont want to mess with running wires to the doors. Thats what I did in my 03. Sounds better than stock. Also added a 12" Type R.

Here is the pic from my 2000. Don't have any of my 03 set-up. Kinda similar, just has the GXE kit instead of Soche.

A lot of folks have had issues with the 03 Bose HU's. Get an after market HU and check.

I've been living with this issue for almost a year now. I don't understand it! While playing CD's, it sounds seriously muffled. While playing the tape deck, I get audio on the right only and when I play the am/fm radio, its perfectly clear. I heard rumors about it being a loose connection (and was further convinced when the CD player cuts back in after hitting bumps) and asked the Nissan Service dept to check it. They told me that the unit is probably going bad. Ok, yeah maybe so.

Now I've been running around to Circuit City and Best Buy and local installers trying to find a solution. They all tell me that I will lose the sweet lady voice on the Nav (which I can deal with), but I can get an aftermarket unit + metra harness + radio antenna adaptor and it will work. The Nav is outdated, I'll get a standalone one later. Like others, I'm not ready for new interior speakers ( tweeters, front doors, rear doors and rear deck).

I'm going to get this done for sure and I'll post the results.

Yo STILLENGLE, I have the same issue I changed the HU to an aftermarket unit in Dec. At the time 1 speaker was not working, now 3 are out. The highs on the pillers still work though. So if you want change out the speakers first then get the HU you want. Plan out your whole system first.
