I have a 4 channel amp, Its a RF 851x. 110x4 @ 4ohms , 220x4 @ 2 ohms and when i bridge it , it is 425 x 2 at 4 ohms.

If i have one sub thats 800 RMS that is dual 4 ohm...

Can i run the amp bridged and run one channel to one voice coil and the other channel to the other voice coil?
having 850 watts total to the sub...is this legit or can you not do this?

would NOT reccomend to only hook up one set of voice coils.

I never said anything about just one voice coil...

That will tell you everything you need to know.
"DVC" = dual voice coil
"SVC" = single voice coil.

 

if you bridge each channel and hook it up to each voice coil, your amp will be outputting at 2 ohms per voice coil. your sub is supposed to run at 4 ohms per voice coil....so technically NO. your sub might be able to handle it...but not for long, thats for sure.

 

you can't change the resistance of a single coil...

 

To clarify everything, YES you can do it. It will also work just fine as you will be bridging to 4 ohms on each side, just set the gains by ear and then use a dmm to match the levels.
