but, do you have to deal with the high import fees that they charge for bringing stuff into another country?

The last thing that I ordered and was shipped ups ground it was lets say 200. The ups guy shows up at the door and is demanding an extra 75-80 for taxes and import fees. I was like wth? had to pay because I wanted the part.

i was a little (a lot) disappointed to hear that alpine made a new (~$100) cable for the digital out. on top of that they haven't even released it yet.

I wonder if it uses the same connection style as that of my home audio system? Maybe a monster cable for home audio would do the same thing? I'm not sure about the shielding aspect though or if that is even needed.

The Panasonic cable is confirmed to work, but not without some work.

P/N is: CA-LRD60 You will need to shave off the clips and insert it at a 90 degree angle.

The IVA-W505 was released a couple days ago and is shipping to all online stores and alpine carriers. I just bought mine online today for around $850.

I'd like to get the blackbird as well, the old blackbird is the PMD-B100 and I'm wondering if that will work with the Alpine Unit...all the Specs on the unit say it features compatiblity with the new PMD-B200.

You can find the B100 for around $175 which is reasonable.
The new B200 is around $500 which im not looking to spend

Anyone know if they have the same connectivity?

Yes you can use the B100 all you need to get is the outboard docking station and hook it up via cable and have full functuality. The w505 still has a nav input for Alpine units.

Hello everyone

Hello all

I am new to your forum and new to being the owner of a 2005 Max

I have a question regarding the IVA-W205 and that is... Can I have one?
According to the bestbuy kids professional opinion, there is no way to fit it. If there are people with a 6th generation Max with the IVA-W205 could you pls let me know what I need to get, where I need to get it and if possible post a pic so I can smack the little pri#$ with it . Thanks to all and looking fwd to absorbing the wealth of knowledge that lies in these forums(this too much **** kissing?)

I opened the link you've given and you're right, Alpine IVA-505 is beautiful. The new features are great. I'm planning to buy one soon.

So you have to get the blackbird in order to have navy? kind of lame. Nice looking head unit though I like that it has the ability for Ipod videos.

I installed one in my 06 Maxima

I just put the IVA-W505 in my car and I like it...

Well I have a few beefs with it.
1)The HU almost seems useless without the adding the Imprint EQ on. The 2 volt pre amps are useless. they hard push a signal back to the amps.
2)I am also having issues with the banking of the usb drive. When ever I load anything new It takes forever (if it does finish) to bank the files. Which really bothers me because it loops the first song it see's and locks the HU up on and off till it finishes banking.
3) I also with it took true mass storage, like a 160 to 320 gb Usb passport drive. I love the ipod integration. in fact I am now looking for a cheap 160 GB 5th&6th gen Ipod off ebay.
4) custom backgrounds... I can't seem to apply one without having the "style" borders overlapping my whole background.

Other than those issues... I really love the HU. All the functions, features and amazing display is perfect. I am going to call Alpine here in a few minutes in hope there is some kind of firmware upgrade that will iron out the issues I have been having.
Is anyone having any of the same issues?

Hmm....

1) I haven't done the imprint yet, since I'm using the factory amps in my Volvo..
2) I usually use the USB temporarily for DJ mixes etc... when I haven't synced my ipod 160gb. But its usually fairly quick.
3)
4) I've d/l ed a few backgrounds, its hit or miss on how the the menu's and borders affect it.

If htey do have an update please let me know, as I am curious too.

1. I also havnt done imprint, im running an Alpine MRP-F450 for my doors and HU, but i'm gonna look into it right now.
2 I only use my iPod, I leave my 160 gb in my car always. Speed is always quick with mine, a little laggy when dragging through artists.
3.
4. I forgot you could change the backgrounds, I would like to change the blue buttons, maybe black or something.

(link or model number to which imprint device i need?)

Where did you get the DD "cover panel" from? Is that the GXE kit painted black?

No I had a single kit, and my guy at Sound Advice modified it and painted it black.

I don't understand what you mean here. Are you saying that you tried to use a USB hard drive and it didn't work? Keep in mind that the USB connector cannot power a hard drive larger than 1.8". As far as I know all external USB hard drives are 2.5" or larger and would require a separate power source if you were to connect one to a car stereo USB input.

as would a 701 (or at least an h100), which would be about the only reason to choose a 505 in the first place.

although ssld6 is ftmfw.

Even with a 701, the voltage output doesn't seem too high. After adding the SSLD6, it made a pretty good difference, although my amp still doesn't have enough power to make my speakers shine. Once I pay off some pesky medical bills, I'm gonna have to replace my Audison LRx 6.SR.

Hey Nicktard, I have a quick question. the In-Dash kit, did you have that customize or do they sell it ready to install. I have the alpine IVA W205 and every time I open the unit and close it, it always gets stuck on the closing part. the kit doesn't have a tight grip to hold it in place
