opinions please on the JVC AVX800 In Dash

Hi guys,

I have a 2000 Max without the Bose headunit.

I'm Thinking about getting this:
http://www.electronicsbonanza.com/co...ku=10513&src=g

And this kit:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+-+NN1494.html

(I will cut the middle piece that separates the two dins)

What ya guys think? Will everything fit ok. I don't have much JVC stuff but this unit seems nice for the price and I've read some good reviews. I love the fact that there is a USB adapter and you can plug in a hard drive or use an SD card. Does anyone here have this unit? If so, how is it working for ya?

First of all the HU is a double din unit. Which is cool except for the fact that the turns the double din slot into a single din with a pocket. You would need a double din kit for the HU to fit. I don't know much about the 2k max's layout. I own a 2k3 so for me I would use the GXE kit for my model year for the unit to fit. I hope that this helps. Someone chime in if I'm wrong. G/L.

Well the dash kit that I posted above those come with a pocket. However, its made so that you could use it as a double or single din just by removing the little piece that separates the spaces and removing the pocket. The GXE kit is ($130ish) too expensive and it leaves a small gap on the bottom. I read about that when I was searching.

they start on e-bay at 480 + shipping. Just so you know.
seems like a really good price. I'm wondering if it has dual zone?
So I can play video for the kiddies in the back. The kiddies can use their headphones, and I can play music on all the speakers for me.

What about rear view camera?

According to this its dual zone. http://www.keenzo.com/showproduct.asp?ID=988258

"Dual-Zone
With the KW-AVX800 and a separate monitor, rear-seat passengers can enjoy DVD movies while you listen to the radio up front
."

Oh Circuitcity.com selling it for $450 (after the 10% coupon code they give you on their site).

that's cool, but I haven't read anything about the rear view camera yet...
good price on circuitcity.
and It looks as though it doesn't have any navi features.... I suppose that's why it's so cheap.

You could still pull out a map.

Thanks for the link. I bought this unit about a month back from Crutchfield. Was going to go to Wal-mart and have them order the Scosche kit for me, but that website has a better price. I didn't get as good a price from Crutchfield, but I got the wire harness and antenae adapter.

I'm looking forward to putting it in.

I just ordered the dash kit. How does that it look/fit for you?

Do you have yours hooked up to a portable USB drive? What size?

I can't wait to see that 7inch goodness.

The kit fits fine. You just need to sand the sides of the kit a little bit to have the in dash screen open and close properly. Other than that..the screen fits perfect and looks almost stock with no gaps whatsoever.

Tried a 2gb flash and a 160gb hard drive and both worked.

Cool. Just a few more questions if you don't mind.

I'll try to pickup a 160GB hard drive to hold my music & vids. Do you have a recommended brand? I know if it draws too much power it won't work.

Did you do the install yourself? I'll try to do it myself. Any caveats?

Thanks for the info!
