Pioneer DEH-P6000UB

Is anyone using the Pioneer DEH-P6000UB?

If so, what are your thoughts and opinions.

Okay...

Anyone have any feedback on this particular hu (or even one similar)?

I'm wanting to replace my stock Bose hu and like the integrated iPod controls.

For the audio gurus out there:
Would this be a suitable replacement for the stock hu?
What type of sound difference can I expect by replacing the hu and not the speakers?

Not too sure about the iPod controls because I've read that they're a bit iffy....unless they changed the interface or how you navigate it and everything BUT I've had 4 different Pioneer HUs now with no disappointments. Not too sure about how it'll sound with the Bose system as there's a lot of complications and crap with them with the stock amps and speakers and all that but I know in 3 Preludes I had (pretty damn good stock system, probably better than the Bose), the Pioneer made it much louder, crisper, and stronger overall, a great improvement. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I have the Pioneer Premier DEH 490IB or what ever. it has 3 band eq and the ipod controls and a ton of other toys. that one looks like a newer generation. but anyways i love mine. the i pod controls are annoying if you have to navigate thru artist, cause i have like 200 but thats what my playlists are for. i love it and it is a huge hit to all of my passengers. oh and i have stock bose and left the speakers in there, just added subs. it sounds great. i put all the bass to the trunk and the mids and highs to the speakers. i say do it. i wish i pitched an extra $30 for the DEH 590IB. but i love mine. look into the Premier line cause im sure that they have thsame models as Pioneer but better.

I looked into Premier a little bit. From what I could tell, it's about the same as comparing my fully-loaded Maxima SE and an Infiniti i30. There may be a few more bells and whistles on the Premier (along with the iPod cable included), but that seems to be about it.

I've also used Pioneer in the past in other cars. They seem to be the most user-friendly hu's available. I'll never say that they have the most power, but when driving down the interstate at 80mph, I'd much rather get what I want out of my stereo without a lot involved to do it.

I just compared the regular Pioneer DEH-P5000UB to their Premier brand model that most closely matched it. I read every spec and the only two differences I came across was that the Premier came with a 2 year warranty versus the regular Pioneer's 1, and the Premier also came with a faceplate case.

I really don't even know why Pioneer bothers with the whole "Premier" line. It just seems so completely unnecessary imo.

Don't forget the included USB cable for the iPod connection so "you can leave your iPod cable at home".

Some people just want to THINK they got something better than they did. It's just like cars. With certain brands, you can get essentially the same car in a high trim level of the 'discount brand' (ie Ford), or the base model of the 'luxury brand' (ie Mercury) and essentially get the same car for less.

i have one..its a great headunit..real easy to use... It also comes with the usb wire so i just leave a 4gb flash drive pluged in or plug in my boyfriend's ipod..the ipod controls are real easy to use, sound quality is good too as well. it doesn't seem as loud as my alpine but because it's easier to use, i'd rate it over the alpine..i say go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Thank you for the feedback. When traveling 65 miles one-way to work (mostly interstate) functionality is more important than pure sound quality.

I've had good luck with Pioneer H/U's in the past and just wanted to hear feedback from someone that actually had this unit.

Now I just need to come up with the money to do it and do it right. (Proper dash kit, wiring harness, any/all adapters for BOSE).

I have a pioneer 5000ub and i love it! I bought it off crutchfield with the oem amplifier for the bose and the sound quality is simply amazing. I'm a big ipod user and I love the fact that it syncs with my deck. The big **** mimics ipod's interface which is really conveniant. Scrolling through songs isn't really a problem with me since I like to leave mine on shuffle.

I bought everything (dash kit, adapter for bose) off crutchfield and they definitely made it a breeze for me. Only thing is that their is a bit of a gap between the pocket and the deck, and the pocket borders dont fit. Maybe an oem pocket from nonbose will fit better.

the oem amplifier for bose that i bought off of crutchfield is extremely useful. It includes all the dials to adjust the highs and lows to get the sound quality just right. I could not imagine how horrible the music would sound without it.

thats what the gap looks like, you can see how the outer trim doesnt fit on the pocket, and it was really lose. I decided to just take it off instead of constantly having it fall off and then having to put it back on.

I got the Pioneer DEH-P6000UB for my Maxima a couple weeks ago, after my Bose CD player stopped working. The iPod controls are great and I haven't even used the CD since. I like that the iPod plugs into the rear and you can keep it in the glove box, just access it through the HU. The scrolling menu makes it easy. There's quick access to sub and bass controls too.

There were many things I didn't like about it when I first got it, but I was thrilled that all of them were configurable items; you just have to spend some time studying the 80-page manual (that comes on a CD.) Like I thought the background screen was too busy (there are several options), the screen reverses color every 10 seconds (that's a "demo" mode that you can turn off), and the alarm / faceplate auto-open when you shut it off can be disabled.

It sounds great. I actually look forward to red lights now and even traffic... makes for a longer ride. I did put in new speakers too, but at the time I didn't realize there was the adapter option. If I could do it over, I'd try the adapter and keep my Bose speakers.

Another Pioneer Question

Hey guys I have a Pioneer 9800BT That I originally had in my Altima (Non Bose) Before I deployed. I still have the unit along with the I-Pod adaptor and want to install in a 2005 Nissan Maxima (With Bose System, Non-Navigation). Can someone direct me to the link that talks about removing the Bose Head Unit to install a Aftermarket Head Unit. I looked at the Crutchfield site and all looks well however I thought I read somewhere that I lose the subwoofer capability because of removing the Bose System. Is this true or just need an adaptor to handle it? Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this has been discussed before, I am over in Iraq and we kind of have time limits on our computers so this seemed easier than searching the whole site.
Thanks.

Well belay my last I found the sticky on it, but for a newbie like me it is all pretty much Greek. I guess I am just looking for a simple answer.

I too am about to replace my Bose h/u with a Pioneer h/u from Cruthfield because I'm getting the dreaded "Check Disc" error message. I thought at first that I had to replace my stock Bose speakers when I use an aftermarket h/u because from what I've read and heard from everyone that is what's required. Then I spoke via live chat with a Crutchfield rep and below is what we chatted about:

Gilmo
great! yes please. Also to answer your question about speaker... can I use the original bose speakers I have in my car with the Pioneer head unit I have in my cart?
Jeremy.
Yes.
Gilmo
so I'm confused again... everyone else tells me I need to replace the Bose speakers b/c they won't work with any other head unit other than my broken Bose.
Jeremy.
With the harness we provide you can use the factory system. That is confirmed by our research department.
Gilmo
terrific! But do I sacrifice performance of the speakers?
Jeremy.
No not at all, you get all the features of the new radio, and retain the factory sound quality.

And doing it myself saved me over $1200 from what Best Buy would have charge me. Granted that part of the$1200 is labor... but still
