Ok fellow Orgers, I'm now attempting to add some highs to my sound system and I have a question.
Where should I tap into the signal from the radio?

By the way, I still have my BOSE HU, and subs/amp installed.
Just really need to know where to hook my next LOC to.

Srsly?

Take out your bose ones, and put the new ones in their place, use the wires from the bose tweets.

REALLY? you can do that?
Want that kill my HID lights and shatter my back bumper?
Sorry for being sarcastic, but you understand.

I wanted to keep my factory highs and just add the new ones to another amp. That's where my problem lies. Where to get the signal from?

I wouldn't recommend that. No sense in destroying your stage by polluting aftermarket speakers with oem tweeters..

Your absolute best option is to replace the oem with aftermarkets.

This is a maxima forum, not a chevy caprice or ford crown vic one. Might as well lift the max and throw some 28's on it, because that makes about as much sense as what you want to do.
Do what nismos said.

Do what nismos said.

Wow, this forum is for Maxima's only? U gotta be kidding me!
DUH, I know that!!! That's why I paid my dues, DUDE!

And if I wanted 28" on MY MAXIMA I would do that.

What ever happened to the straight forward answer? (i.e. Ok you need to tap into _____)

Then make your personal suggestions on what should be done.

Why wouldn't you tap the same place you tapped for the other "loc"'s into your system? you only need the signal. Then an in-line crossover for the tweet.

Again, don't do it.

This is .org, home of pw'ing and long winded round about answers, you didn't know?

Well I tapped the other from the factory sub and i figured it would be better if i did this one from the factory highs or the door speakers.

I'm really wondering why not to add them to the existing system. What will it hurt?
Thank you nismos14.

I guess I'll start thread jumping myself and making smartass comments!

Any suggestions on a good set of tweets? Something that will match up well with my factory BOSE HU?

The only thing that'll match up well to them is the bose tweets. You could probably get away with a cheaper set of tweets like pioneer/kenwood/jvc/kicker etc.

I'm pretty sure you can't just slap any old tweets into a bose system. They use 6ohm speakers, correct? (anyone know what ohms the speakers are in this system? I've heard 6 but I'm not sure.)

I know will say get rid of the Bose, but i want to keep it for the factory look.( People in Memphis don't really break into cars with factory HU's, )

I just want some better sounding Highs... Thanks

No, the tweets are 4Ohm.

I could only suggest what everyone else has ... change all or none. Although if you would swap your tweets it wouldnt be horrible. Remove the Bose tweeters and replace them with aftermarket. Absolute best is to replace all, but if your not going to do that then just replace the tweets rather than adding more to what is already there.

Which I just found out 2 hours ago when I pulled my a-pillar off. Someone on another forum ventured a guess that they were 6.

So it turns out they're 4. Which means..yep....any old tweets should work. gotta cross them correctly though. mine have a 2.2uF cap wired onto them. is that for the crossover?
