Help, No Sound?

So i was driving my maxima today (92 GXE) had the radio up rather loud but not at max, and then all of a sudden no sound. The radio, a pioneer cd player 50WX4 was still on but no sound was coming out. Im guessing maybe i blew the internal amp? I took out the radio and it was pretty warm/hot. The radios probably 3+ years old but otherwise works fine. I have the bose speakers up front w/o amps so there running off the stereos amps to avoid the 1Ohm amp the bose speakers had, and i have sony explods in the back, and im pretty sure all can handle a peak of 50W easily, so i dont think theyre blown, and would they all blow at once? So what do you guys think, amp s toast? I let it cool for about an hour but no sound. SHould i just buy another radio? Thanks

doesn't matter if you removed the bose amps, your pioneer will see a 1 ohm load per channel. speakers determined the impedance, not the amps. you probably fried the internal amp since it was driven at such a low load.

I thought if the radios amp was wired to the speaker it would be 4ohm or whatever, but this is not the case i see. I mean its not the end of the world, i can get a new radio with built in sirius and bluetooth to make it easier for me, but i would liek to know how this Ohms impedence thing works. The one ohm channel is built into the speaker? Why would the amp be over worked and then fry itself if the speakers have a lower ohm rating, wouldnt then amp have less work to do? I am just wondering for my own benefit. Thanks.

Also, what are some good speakers for the money, im just a kid, and my budget is small, how are those pioneer 4X6's(I have both bose (4") and non bose(4X6) brackets, i seen a pair for 50 bucks that are 25wt rms and 120 max. What do you think of those, or can anyone recommend others in that range?

Lower impedance makes the amp work harder, not less. A driver is what dictates what impedance it is, nothing else.

www.bcae1.com to get started.

Lol, i only ran it for 5 months or so with the bose speakers. So are my speakers still good? So basically with the lower Ohms impedence my amp was forced to put out more power, heat up and fry itself. So the speakers were probably seeing more than 50Wx4 at peak. but other than that would they be fine? BTW that site was very informative, thank you.

That is correct. Once you get a new HU, make sure you also purchase new speakers.

I shall, most likely tonite, hit up best buy. Can u recommend any cheap speakers that arent half bad? like a 50 dollar pair of pioneers? 25 watts RMS or so should be fine for a regualr HU, theyre usually like 20RMS anyways...
