ghetto sound deadening idea

So i was just playing my drums a little bit after playing that rock band game with the drum pads... yeah... it was cool.... didnt help me at all though irl..
point being i wanted to minimize some rattling on the double bass drums and i remembered back in the day a music teacher put this blanket in the bass drum...

so i was going to try a ghetto way to sound deaden my car...
yeah im going to just put some blankets in my car doors and see what happens.

not sheets, like thick wool blankets... if you think about it.. it would absorb the access bass that the door panels absorb and cause rattling...

it's very ghetto indeed... but i think it would work... the black blankets i have my animals sleep on... but i only care bout my dog and hes taken care of so who cares.

i may get flammed on for being ghetto and tryna survive on a poor mans budget .. but hear the idea out and let me know what you guys think.. i will be trying this on my spare time 2morro... so pics and results will go up...

this wont be a useless thread

Invest in Lysol to kill the germs that build up and Febreeze for the stench of the moisture retained and all should be good. Oh and treat your doors with something to minimize the rust build up.

Not likely that a wet towel will catch flames.

water gets on the inside part of the door panel ??
ya know where the speaker faces....
if thats the case wouldnt the speaker be affected???

the metal part that sticks out with the door panel off tends to rattle the most against the door panel.....

i was planning on laying the blankets on the inside of the door pannel... i dont think that part sees any water like that

no i have never heard or seen condensation before... im only in 2nd grade and thinking of ideas for my daddy's car....

i dont think it would be a big deal... aint like the inside becomes like a soda can when u take it outta the fridge..

it's supposed to be "ghetto" and after a while... if it works... i just wash em if they start to smell. i keep the inside of my car as clean as can be. so that wouldnt be an issue for me anyhow.

People here are trying to help you, prevent future headaches. I think you should listen and do it once, and do it right the first time.

$56 is NOT a lot of money for proper deadening. A tank of gas costs more.

Sorry sir, no can do. I wouldnt want anyone else making the same mistakes.

In all honesty do you really see this as an concept of your own? In all the decades of acoustical treatments researched over and over again do you not think someone, somewhere has not thought of this? Then think why has it Not been implemented. For home or commercial use? Sure actually cotton is one of the better bang for buck materials, however not for cars.

that's what I thought and went ahead and bit the bullet on it. I'm going to try to get it installed in the next few weeks with the factory blose. should make a marked improvement in the mid bass response. At least that's what I have been told.

here's where I got mine....
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MEWN:IT&ih=003
honestdee was the vendor. Cheapest price that I found. everyone else is 10$more.

goodluck.
And it costs me over $80 to fill my tank with premimum.... I'm in canada though. and gas is over $5 a gallon here. $1.38/litre* apx. 4 liters to a gallon = 5.52/gallon.
60 Liters x $1.38/litre= $82.50

O, I know about bills.... baby on the way and a 6 year old. Yeah, I know the song you sing. I've got my stillen kit just sitting in the garage waiting on paint... and I am piecing together my stereo piece by piece. so far I have speakers and deadeding. I am shopping for an amp, but it's going to be a while before one comes to my door and gets "installed" in the basement.

Do you ever find that by doing things the ghetto way it actually ends up costing you more (either in time or $'s) in the long run? just curious.

Nail ----> Head.

Bingo. Save your time and money and DO IT RIGHT. And if you can't afford it, then don't do it at all.

I detest people that don't take sound advice when it's literally being force fed down their throat.

who ever mentioned anything bout being in the ghetto anyway??

sometimes the ghetto ways are the best ways... for instance .. my ghetto air box... instead of throwing money to an intake.. or a cai.. i made a gab/oscai...
couldnt be happier ... i guess it doesnt apply in every area.

as for the bills... yeah my do99 is my child, and my credit card bills are my cancer

but i got a settlement comming along so maybe this... fatmat stuff will get put on the door and trunk when that comes.

who knows il probably be "ghetto" and steal the **** from a store... maybe my ni99ie rey rey can get it off the back of a truck...
