Opinion on INFINITY REF7541A
Hi guys, just want to know if this amp is going to work for me.
Here are the specs:
Power Output: 111 watts RMS x 4 channel at 4 ohms and = 1% THD + N 278 watts RMS x 2 channel at 4 ohms, 14.4V supply and = 1% THD + N
Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 81dBA (reference 1 watt into 4 ohms)
Dynamic Power: 164 watts at 2 ohms
Effective Damping Factor: 6.315 at 4 ohms
Frequency Response (-3dB): 10Hz to 100kHz (-3dB)
Maximum Input Signal: 5.5V
Maximum Sensitivity: 230mV
Output Regulation: .088 dB at 4 ohms
Basically, it's going to power 2 type-r coaxials and Rainbow SLCs.
I'm not sure what the RMS power capability of the SLCs are, but I believe the Alpines are about 100w. Also, I was told to give the SLCs at least 80w.
Is this too much power for my speakers?
Also, it says 14.4v power supply...I thought the battery could only give out 12v. I know these are noob questions, but I am an audio noob.

This is what I was asking. I don't have a lot of experience here.
So infinity is crap?
If I don't have a big sub (one 12"~300w) wouldn't I notice a lack of sound coming from the rear?
I'm honestly asking, I've never NOT had speaks in the rear. Or are you implying to just let the HU handle the rears?

I wouldn't get the infinity amp. Go with eclipse or something like that. Why would a sub make you notice less rear fill?
A sub doesn't play the same frequencies as rear fill would so it makes no difference either way.
I say amp a set of comps up front, leave the rear fill out completely or run it off HU power, and then run the amp's rear channels bridged to a sub.

some people like a little bit of rear fill, some dont
i usually have mine about even front to back because i like the "surround sound" feel more than the "at a concert" feel
its all about preference
