BOSE aftermarket HU Question

soo.. i dont know much about BOSE and all except that they run at 1 ohm and such and your better off without it! so. heres my dilemma; i have a 98 and Im planning on buying a New HU soon (which im sure will be 4 ohms) and using the HU to power my Stock Bose speakers. now if im correct all i need to do is bypass the BOSE amps and use a LOC before the speakers/right after the HU, correct? or am i wayyy off?

im not to sure about in the 98 bose head unit but when i removed my bose hu on my 04 i just used the harness and the speakers worked fine. best thing to do is just replace all interior speakers and amp them like that you get better sound quality and more power to better speakers. an aftermarket stereo puts out little power to interior speakers. just my opinion ya know. i've gone through lots of systems and yet the maxima is the most difficult for some reason.

I want to bypass my BOSE amps and use the power from my headunits AMP can i do that or do i have to wire it into the bose amps? or would it sound better to just use the BOSE amps and a Preamp out from my HU? i just want to know if ill be wasteing my money on a HU with a large internal AMP..

dude, u never want to bypass the bose amps unless they are fried out. The reason why many (especially myself) dont like bose is because of their secritiveness with specifications, ripoff on price, and inability to easily mix with aftermarket components. Bose sound quality in cars is fantastic for an upgraded system when purxhasing your car, but there are many alternatives that are better if you actually ant to take the time to upgrade it yourself and actually do it properly.

best thing you can do is buy a new hu with preamp outs and just send a signal to the amps. You will not benefit a bit from bypassing the speakers, even if you want to put more power to them, they werent designed for that. Read the thread i wrote, all of your answers are in there and if you have any other questions just ask.

all appologies for my questions like i said im learning as i go, ive read your thread probably three times lol all diffrent times its very helpful i will say, i know im coming off as a total and complete noob, which believe it or not im really not. i just didnt have any ones opinons on the quality of sound from a diffrent head unit and stock bose amps and speakers. my new dilemma is the fact that one of my speakers is blown, now. im not sure if its the AMP or the speaker though, i will say taht when it is plugged in it gives off a screeching sound. so im not sure if i should just take the road of replaceing the speaker or buying some new bose from a member here, oppinons?

well, you can troubleshoot the speaker. It is ok to hook the speaker up to a 4 ohm amp for a short time and see if the speaker is producing sound. If that works and you music sound right, then your bose amp is blown most likely. At that point, suck it up and buy all new speakers. It sux to say, but its almost better then going to brokeback dealership and having to take it up the *** cause its so expensive to fix.
