Running speaker wire into the door

Running speaker wire into the door
For those who have done this, is it a tough process? In my 350 I had to dremel out brackets that went into the door and it ended up being a pain in the @$$!! Do you just push the wire through or is there something more involved?
TIA, Im replacing the speakers and adding a four channel amp. Amp is in the trunk so I will directly connect to the rear components. I am also installing components in the front and want to have the crossover in the kick panel. Idealy, I want to run the wire from the amp directly to the crossover and not have to mess with any of the stock wireing.

I know I'll figure it out... just curious what I am in for and if its worth it. I can also throw em in the door and use the ****ty stock wires.

what an insightful question!
its running wires to doors... i don't really know what you're looking for here. you move some panels and stuff out the way and thread wires through the door loom (i use coat hangers sometimes). better?

Sorry had to laugh at his one. I guess what he meant was that once you start doing the actual work most time things will start to flow hence "figure things out". Sometimes things can be taken out of context.

no easy way around it, you will have to fish the lines through somehow. for mine, i took off the rubber boot/grommet thingy on the doors so i can bend it straight....then used a close hanger to fish the line through. it's a PITA but doable.

Helps if you tell us what year your car is.
In a 4th gen you can fish the wire through. It takes work, and, no homo, lube helps (I use vaseline)
In a 5th gen you CANNOT fish the wire through the grommet, because there is a molex plug AT the grommet. You have to drill to get the wire out of the car, I always drill behind the kickpanel.
The above information applies for front doors only. In both generations, you can fish the wire through in the rear doors.

Do NOT try to dremel or drill through the molex plug like on the 350Z, there is no space to do so and you will severely screw up your wiring harness. Drill behind your kick panel, make a small slit and fish the wire into the rubber loom and then into the door.

If you really don't want to mess with it you should be able to use the existing door speaker wires. Find the speaker wires that connect to the speaker (the easy part) and then find the same wires where the come into the cabin (kick panel area). Clip the wires, insulate the side that goes to the factory amp and tie in your new wires to the ones already going into the door. No, it's not ideal but that small run of wire won't really affect the sound much if at all. I guarantee 99%+ of the people won't really hear a difference and 100% won't hear a difference with the engine on.
