Need help hooking up my system please. 300zx thread.

Ok, I have an Infinity Basslink, which I connected the power, audio signal, and ground up to my amp. I have power and sound from the Basslink, but I don't have sound coming out of my Rainbows components which are hooked up to my Diamond amp. I have power from the amp however.
I did not hook up the front speakers through the head unit as I figured they would get their signal from the amp. Is that wrong?

What am I doing wrong here?

So you have all the signal wires ran for the amp and everything? no output from the rainbows? Did you adjust the gain on the amp? Is the lpf set?

Thank you for replying.

All of the wires are run. I don't know what I should have the amp set on as far as the gains on the amp. And I don't know what lpf is. Please help.

I don't know about the gains. I would probably say halfway. LPF= Low Pass Filter

You have to adjust the gains up at least a little, LPF is low pass filter, the crossover on the amp, make sure it is not on.

If I ground the amp/basslink the basslink kicks on, but the amp goes out. . If I don't have them grounded, the amp is on. Remember, the basslink is running to the same ports the power, remote, and ground are in.

Yes, why? Don't do that. Use a distribution block for the power wire. The ground should be straight from each amp to the chassis, not daisy chained. You solved your own problem.

Thank you. I will try that tonight and report back.

What about for the remote wire? Can that be daisy chained?

Remote wire should be okay daisy chained, if not you will need a relay on it with a spdt.

Here is a diagram for hooking up a standard Bosch type relay for the remote (if you need it).

http://www.caraudiohelp.com/images/relay_for_remote.gif

The remote from the head unit goes to terminal 86 and terminal 87 goes to the amps (each remote terminal).
