Dynaudio this, Dynaudio that...who cares?
*in an attempt to fight for the last word*
These speakers pick EVERYTHING up. Almost forces you got get satellite radio. When the radio gets "staticky", the speakers pick it up and magnify it in a way. Although Im a big fan of mp3 on my phone, I have been making a lot more cd's than usual in an attempt to get the best sound, not necessarily for loudest but best sq. Just wanted to throw more feedback, whether considered positive or negative.
At any rate, after over 60 hours of listening, (I have to be near it atleast), I am still smiling. I got my subwoofer up and running again but i cant even tell where the bass is coming from. My fronts always shaked my side and rear view mirrors, just feels more surrounded...saving and patiently waiting for an Esotar 1200...when the time is right
.
*ahem*, Don, I say you sell me yours in a month or so since its already broken in
and you should be working on the next big thing

Also, Im preparing for the 1200....rear speakers = rear amp ($$) or connection to head unit (waste of speakers)....IMHO
dam 60's? I'm chillin in the upper 40's on most cd's and venture into low 50's on radio and mp3. Tell me you got your Billet gains at half (yea yea i know we cant compare but I still like to know how his setup looks)

[QUOTE=maxprivate;6529929]he is referring to 8" mids in the rears although two of them in the car sounds like a lot, especially for just rear fill. I would just get 6 and a half to avoid any custom installs but esotar 1200 is all you need.

[QUOTE=meccanoble;6531247]Yeah Im sure the 1200 would suit my needs , that why I will go that route first.
give me a call when u get a min.
The making stuff up part is the best.
when I select EQ it then Avn brings me to a EQ screen ..on the right hand side are preset selections numbered 1 thru 5. I selected number 4 , not to much bass and nice highs.

Any custom eq preferences that anyone feel make the dyn's shine even more?
RESURRECTS THREAD!
Ok, so I've been playing with the equalizer in an attempt to bring more vocals into the system, those 8" mids create a lot of bass up front. After some changes I seen a big improvement but was fiending for more.
I just tampered with the crossover setting the tweet and 3" dome to +2db each instead of standard 0 db. This actually makes a big difference. Brightens up the vocals and allows for more high end sound during low volumes. Definitely liking this change. Thank you to a fellow dynaudio owner that made the recommendation. Also thanks to Don for assisting with equalizer adjustments. Hopefully someone still cares

i'm no tuning pro but my understanding is its better to attenuate the over emphasized frequencies rather than boost the under emphasized ones. not sure if this is a fix all reccomendation but startng from a flat eq its where i would go.
It doesnt sound like the quality has went down, just they are a little brighter or a little more noticeable and still not ear stressing like previous components I've played with. Not sure if its because of the quality or the placement (most likely both).
maxprivate, I did not touch my amp this time, well i put the gains half way or slightly under halfway for one reason. My head unit jumps in double increments until I get to volume 50. I'm a blaster (if speakers survive in my car, they must be good). So I brought gains down so I can maximize the volume with increments of 1. Now I can touch low to mid 50's depending on cd, radio or mp3 quality.
I will listen to a few more tracks at home, both r&b and hip hop. I was playing Rick Ross Trilla album and I didnt notice a weakness in SQ, just more vocals which is a plus to me since by default this system has a lot of bass. So far, the first song which is heavy in bass sounds a lot better. I'll update you all as I continue to listen.
another happy camper.
BTW, I found my final setup, I'm not touching it again.
I kept my crossover settings for 3" mids and tweets to +2db and put my equalizer at flat and brought the first band down 2 notches. Brought my sub amp gains up 2 levels and I am at peace with this setup.
I kept going back and forth between flats and a custom setup that had vocals brought up a little. Some songs they sound slightly better than flats but most songs the flats sound better. I would get some songs where vocals just sound too high or too high pitched. Not bad but you definitely favor the flats. I will stay with the flat setup. Very happy with this and with speakers fully broken in, my system definitely feeds my need for loudness, accuracy and bass.
If anyone feels system has too much bass or vocals arent matching with bass, I recommend this setup but I definitely recommend letting them break in COMPLETELY before making any adjustments. The wait was terrible but end result was definitely worth it.
I used to blast songs until the tweets went into protection mode, now I find myself lowering the volume a little because volume is too high, even for a blaster like me.
Now I just need a more accurate sub and I'm done.
