Eclipse finally updated their website so that there is now information on the 726E.
Bout time. I was about to cave in and get the 6620 today.
maybe I will have to wait some more. Talked to a local rep and he's sayin that eclipse should be shipping next week sometime.

This deck better live up to all that I think it's going to be or I am gonna be very disappointed after having to wait all this time.

so Don, is there anyway you're gonna be able to get us some of these or do we need to start looking around at other not so great, high priced retailers?

Shouldn't be too long, considering crutchfield is taking pre-orders.

I just ordered a KDC-X993 which was just released like a day or two ago.

Ugh, that thing is such a POS. I went from a AVIC-Z2 -> F90BT -> DNX8120, now the 726e.

They all had pros/cons, but the Kenwoods con's were more than the pro's...

For starters, the navigation sucked, i'd say it would actually find about 50% of what i input.

Second, it looks like a big cartoon.

Third, the contrast ratio sucks. Take a look at the F-series or this new 726e to see what a navi is supposed to be.

Fourth, the DVD-menu is in MS-DOS. Seriously, it looks like a 286 computer on there.

Fifth, I have never had so many problems tuning a head unit.

Sixth, if you plan on using the SWI-JACK, be prepared to get frustrated, it works ~20% of the time.

Seventh, the keyboard is in alphabetical order (not qwerty) and the letters dont gray out while you're typing. Also, there is no auto-complete as you're typing.

Shall I go on?

Keep going, those seem to be mostly personal preference issues, except the navi.

I wanted to rip that thing out of your car and toss it on I-85/I-77 just riding with you. God forbid if I had to live with the thing.

What I really don't like most is the interface. That is a personal preference as well, but when I pay that much for a multimedia/navi system, I want it to look like it actually cost something and have sharp resolutions.

call them what you will, but knowing there's way better options out there, I decided to sell it in anticipation of the 726e. If you are gonna get it, make sure they have a good return policy. I seriosuly only had it for 4 months before I sold it.

Take advice from a fellow org'er, go with the 726e, it's cheaper and it's Eclipse, what more should I say?

Guess they just updated. Wow going against their model for what they sent out last quarter of '08 to all dealers. Im feeling the loss less and less now.

I can only agree with some. Been using the 8120 for a bit now and yes the navi is 'cartoonish' however it has been pretty accurate - no more or less than the Eclipse.

No problems tuning or with SWI-JACK here at all.

General consensus disagrees here according to sales flow and demand in the 12V world. Actually this has been the top selling unit for '08 in it's range.

Now of course I can list a plethora of things I hate about the F series, but first and foremost is getting it to work ..

don... how about pricing? Is it going to be less than the 2 online retail vendors that have posted here?
Nice looking deck and all but 1299usd (1597 Canadian) is out of my range when converted over to Canadian dollars.

I'm very happy to see they have details on the site. The navigation interface looks way better than the kenwood. In fact, if you guys look on the first page of overview and put mouse on navi section, they even have a 5.5 gen on display. I think they are trying to make a statement, maybe this is the HU for us? . I'm interested to see what the 8120 upgrade looks like and compares to this eclipse....

any input?

I found this forum while googling for information on the eclipse avn726e.

I was going to buy this unit at my local audio place, but they were out of stock and back ordered for another month so i checked the above website out.

It said that the unit was in stock and i took the above advice and called just to make sure. I got a guy on the phone immediately who verified that the unit was in stock and then gave me a $100 off promo code to use on the unit (37100).

I had problems with my American Express going thru for some reason and had to call AmEx and Pacific Stereo a couple times each to deal through everything. I ended up just paying using paypal because american express was being difficult. This was my first time using this site and they really went above and beyond for me. They are shipping out to me today, I live in Texas, and hopefully I should get the unit soon as my kenwood deck got stolen last weekend and I've been without music in my car for too long :/

So yeah, thanks for the link and sorry for the long post but they did me some favors so I figured I might as well thank them and give them more exposure.

Maybe i'll post some pics after I get it installed if I remember

edit* I dont drive a maxima though, so don't hate when i post pics ha.

The product looks really promising. It makes me want to replace my old Pioneer in-dash LCD. I'm gonna wait for this one.

for those interested, the installation guide & manual are up on Eclipse's site for downloading.

I looked through them and while it looks like a promising unit, I can't help to be disappointed in 2 things. Number 1, and most important, 3 band EQ. It is literally Bass/mid/treble. This isnt a supertuner guys, come on! Number 2, not as important, no iPod album cover art. Maybe they can fix this with an update.

Does anyone know if it displays the song on the nav screen?

I really think that EQ limitation is stupid. Such a high end unit with a weak eQ. Hope to see pics of it. I have a bigger band EQ on my Eclipse and its generations older.

No. Their 'idea' was ... " People don't care about that stuff anymore. All they want is nice visuals and iPod use".

I wonder how long it will take to remove the bullet out of their foot ...

WTF, I seen 2 things which need a better explanation:

•works with most steering wheel controls — no adapter required
•warranty: 1 year

Every Eclipse head unit I have seen including the one I own has a 3 year warranty. Yet this one only has a 1 year warranty? Is this true or only when you buy it off of crutchfield?

Also, they mention it automatically works with most steering wheel controls. Any way to verify if this is compatible with Maxima's and M3's?

Sure can, just lack the desire since from a 'sq' standpoint theyre going backwards.
