A loud pop, burn smell then silence.

Ok, I have an 04 and it was sitting for about 2 weeks while i was having a great time in NY. and i get in turn the car on and i hear a loud pop, then it smells like something burning, but no smoke and then silence. No sound coming from the radio, and when i play the CD u can hear the music coming through the front speakers very distorted.
I have the factory bose sys in the car.. Any ideas?

they don't call them blose for no reason...

sounds like an amp died, something grounded itself and shorted out, and/or radio blew out.

I had this problem it was the amp it was one of the resistors. I had a few extra amps laying around so I just took off the bad one and soldered on the good one real easy fix just getting the door panels and all that off for the first time can suck.

-edit-
My bad just read your second post. Nice free replacement!

Well at least it was covered.

I'd laugh at the dealership and go aftermarket.
