False floor finally done
This has been done for a while, but I had some Ensolite left over from my doors, and the false floor I built a few months ago has been rattling. I also never posted to show off my work
after I got it done.
I basically just took out the factory carpeting, layed it down on a 3/8" sheet of particle board(VERY light) and cut it out with a jig saw. Then I ripped that in half from what would be front-back once its in the car - you have to cut it down or it won't go in the car. After it was all done, the whole floor assembled weighs less than 5 lbs.

Getting the floor level was the hardest part IMHO, as the floors in our cars have a weirdazz slope to them. The front of the trunk floor is about 3-4" higher than the rear is, so you have to build the rear up some how to make the whole thing level. There are also alot of ridges in the floor put there for strength that get in the way.
I also wanted to make sure the floor was braced so it wouldn't vibrate, and it also had to support my sub box/amps/ect. As you can see, it is braced to hell, and it no longer vibrates since I glued Ensolite to every surface that could possibly touch anything.

And after the carpet, you'd never know there was anything non-OEM under there. I saw no need to screw it down since it was cut-to-fit; it really cannot move anywhere except up, but when there is 100lb. worth of crap on top of it, it will not move up. Because of this, it is easily removed after the tedious task of removing the sub box/amps/wiring is all done. The box is also wedged in between the floor and the torsion bars for the trunk lid, so it really cannot move at all. It looks like a stru-conversion is in order for the trunk lid to get rid of the scissor bars.
All that's left now is to do something with the sides. I think my stock side panels got thrown away, but I wanted to make them work...

And I would have to agree that enjoying the whole system is THE best part. Now to seal and deaden my doors...
