Inexpensive rear speakers for 4th gen non-Bose?

Searched the threads, only found one and it did not go into much detail. Without actually upgrading to amps or a new head unit, are there any recommendations for replacing the stock rear speakers?

Mine are blown, in fact my right front is also blown.

Rears look easier to mess with than removing the door panel, but will have to do it sooner or later I guess.

Any $50 speaker pairs that work well?

Rainbows. And FYI, to remove the rear speakers you have to remove the whole rear (seat, deck, 3rd brake light if you have 1). Removing the door speakers are A LOT easier.

How to remove the rear speakers:

I thought the same thing too when I first start messin with the panels but quickly found that the front door panels were insanely easier to take off than the rear deck. Perhaps you should start up front with some decent speakers and then work your way back later because I have a sneaking suspicion that your right front will end up driving you bonkers even after you replace the rears.

As far as rear recommendations, I reckon any decent coaxial will do. I have pretty good Boston RM6's back there right now which sounded fantastic when amped but sound like just like any other when not.

Since when are Rainbows $50/pair? And you'd really need amps for them...

OP, if you want cheap rear speakers, just grab a set of pioneers or alpine type S (probably closer to $75). As others have said, replace the fronts with good ones and you won't really notice the rears too much.

As far as drivers go, not quite $50, but search for Phoenix Gold RSD's. Should be able to find a set for less than $100 easy.

As stated above, I would skip upgrading the rear(or remove them all together...) and invest in some better fronts...

I paid $26 a pair for 6.5s when I put them all the way around on my 4th gen max. I don't know about dealing with the blose on it as it was an aftermarket H/U when I got it.

I don't know how cheap you want, but I got these for less than $30 a pair including shipping:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Pioneer-TS-G671M...lenotsupported

They are used, but they are pretty good. I've bought 3 pairs in total from the seller and none of them had any problems.

4 Way, 260 Watts max, 50 Watts RMS (I think).

I installed them in the rear of my fourth-gen, which took some time but wasn't all too bad.
