The ONLY 4th gen bose replacement thread you will ever need

ok so i spent about 8 hours doing this. fiddleing around with wires, forums, internet, you name it i read it. and here is the answer to your questions.

if you have 4 new 6 1/2's, and a new headunit, you NEED to bypass the bose amps. but how you say? well here is the ultimate answer i couldnt find anywhere on earth:

yellow to red
green to purple

thats it. no more bose amps. PLEASE ask me questions i would love to answer them for you,

heh if you actually take everything apart it would make more sense but the wires are the input the amp and the output from the amp. and pretty much we had to figure out what is what in order to wire them together to skip the amp.

i had a few drinks in excitement last night of finishing so if its a little confusing im sorry. thats why i wanna answer questions.

yes they were actually. we did the front first which were the same. we had doubts the two backs would be the same as the fronts but they are.

it was rather nice once we got the first speaker wired.

while doing it i wanted to do a write up but i sadly forgot the camera. the amp boxes in the doors are perfect for hiding all the wire and everything.

Glad you figured it out on your own.

I am certain I've seen an in/out wire color diagram for 4th gen w/Bose on this forum before, just letting you know.

no problem.

and yes 6.5's fit right in with the fronts and the rears. the holes lined up almost perfectly but i think they might be slightly bigger than the plastic cup it screws into. but i just made it fit with no issues at all.

good luck!

^^^ Read the stickies. Your situation does not apply to this thread. All you need is a specific Metra wire harness.

im fairly new at this but i just installed my subs and im trying to install my 4 new speakers with an amp, now my cd player has 4 rca outputs for the highs and 2 rca's for the low's and i know im ganna have to bypass the bose amps but how should i wire the speakers to the amp in the back? i think what im going to do is run the wires from the cd player to the back but i dont know what wires to cut and wire up to the back? (i hope you guys know what i mean) im looking for a wiring diagram for my harness so i can know what wires are what, i cant really tell from looking at the harness to the cd player

First, proper spelling and punctuation is your friend. Use it, it helps.

2nd, let me clarify for everyone. Aftermarket HU, aftermarket 4ch amp, aftermarket subs. You are also installing 4 aftermarket speakers and want to utilize the factory speaker wiring?

Your Bose amps are in the front doors at the speaker, and are also on each rear speaker in the rear deck.

Either way, you have to run RCA's (6 channels worth) from your HU to your amp(s) in the back.

For your speakers, you have two options.

1. Run 4 sets of speaker wire from your 4ch amp to back behind your HU and enter into the speaker leads using your HU wire harness. You will then have to make sure you are taking the PRE-AMPED speaker wire in the door/rear deck and are wiring it directly to the speaker. You don't want to try to amplify an already amplified signal.

2. The easier/smarter way. Run speaker wire from your 4ch amp to each speaker directly.

sorry i had just got off of work and i was really tired. thanks for the help.
i probably will just wire the speakers directly to the amp and take out all the bose equiptment. should i use the bose harness i have now or should i use a non bose harness, or does it matter?

Doesn't really matter, all you need is +12v, acc, ground, power antenna from the harness. Nothing else gets connected.
