I need to know if the stock speakers mount directly to the door frame, or if Nissan used the plastic speaker brackets. If anybody can post up a pic of a stock speaker from a 6.5 gen, I'd appreciate it.

plastic brackets. the speakers surrounds are glued into the speaker brackets to make a single unit.

Thanks Ascendant, I really appreciate it. I'll be installing Morel Dotech Ovation 6's in the front doors. I know that I need a 5.55" cutout for my speaker rings. Do you have any idea what the outside diameter of the rings needs to be in order to be large enough to bolt to the door, but not so large that I can't get my door panel back on?
(I know I really need to pull my door panel, I just don't have any time right now.) Judging by your pic, I'd think that 6.75"-7." is what I should shoot for on the OD of the ring.

6.75 should be good enough. if i can cram 8s in my doors and still made my door panels fit, you can fit those morels without issues.

Thanks AscendantMax,
I'm going to order my speaker rings today (6.75"OD/5.55"ID) and hopefully I can start installing this weekend.
Thanks again for the help.

AscendantMax,

Where did you mount your amps? I figured I'd bolt a board to the frame just behind the rear seat and mount the amps to that. Do you have any better ideas, or is that the way to go?

Thanks a bunch for the help.
