Bose replacement with DVD and MicroVision screen - help

hi guys,

This is the first time I'm doing a stereo install, but I'm know about electronics, I also did a bit of research - so plz don't flame just helpful advice.

I'm doing an install in a 98 I30t with Bose and cell phone junk under it - don't ask it came with it.
So I have an available 2-DIN opening and a 1-DIN. for the 2-DIN I have one of those old 7inch MicroVision screen and for the 1-DIN a chinese radio w/ DVD player and what not.
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=8585672
I'm keeping the Bose speakers.

Now my questions:
For the HU, it comes with 1-pair of RCA
should i go with the Metra Harness 70-7551, and get a couple of y-adapters - I hear that this harness doesn't work well at 2V? opinions

I do not think I would need a dash kit since I'll be placing the radio where the cell-phone box used to be.

How do you guys installed the Microvision screen, mine only came with a plastic bezel that will not take any screws.
Do I need a dash kit for the screen?
Any info is appreciated.
I will be tackling this install this Sunday.

thanks a bunch.

IMO, don't get the metra harness...read my other thread and get the scosche harness (i believe it's called OEM4 or something like that) It's basically a regular harness that has an LOC for each speaker output.

thanks Coolsaber57,

I saw your thread, but dang $40 for a harness ....
So basically I have to add the RCA for each of the 4 channels, and get some y-adapters since mu HU has only 1 set of RCA, right?
I'm sure it comes with a wiring diagram right? any info is appreciated.

Either way you need Y adapters, no matter which harness you use. A Scosche LOC is $40, but a line driver is typically more. Personally, I'd say get a better HU - like the Pioneer DVH units.

I believe the common way people install the Microvision screen is hot glue behind the OEM dash, and you are correct, you don't need an aftermarket dash kit.
