Loud static from speaker need help
So I got my ipaul amp put in a few months ago and have been having some issues with it. For one there is always a high pitch noise whenever I accelorate and if i'm at highway speeds it's just a constant noise which is very annoying if i'm at lower volumes. And off and on there is a loud noise coming from the rear drivers side speaker that is just plain static. Even if the volume is at zero the noise will persist unless I turn off the headunit. Recently I discovered (or at least I thought) that it was because the wires plugged into the left side of the amp were lose and as soon as I pushed them in the noise stopped. However tonight nothing I did made the noise stop even when I unplugged the speakers.. which is kind of weird. Any ideas? I'm thinking about just going to a diff audio place and paying them to fix it..
I have slc 265s up front. The noise is coming from the rear driver side speaker which are memphis coaxials which I plan on replacing as soon as don responds to my pm
. The high pitch noise kind of sounds like it's coming from the rear as well although i'm not to sure. I guess i'll make a third trip to the audio place and ask them to look at the ground? Lol :/

I don't think the static i'm hearing is the ground since the noise stops when I shake one of the wires that are plugged into the amp. So I think it might just be the amp itself or the wire that is messed up.
I have the same issue as the OP.
I don't have a static noise but this ground loop/noise is KILLING ME. It gets worse with how the humidity is outside.
I have noise filters on the stereo side of the RCA's.
My RCA's are 19.4ft StreetWires ZeroNoise 6-channel cables which cost me $120 so I don't think it's an issue with the quality of my cables.
I have my radio grounded through the harness and through another wire to the chasis that the radio is screwed into. I have my 1.2 farad cap grounded to one of the strut bolts (tried the metal part of the rear seat as well with no luck), and then the amp grounded to another strut bolt. I heard you shouldn't share grounds.
Where is the absolute BEST place to ground, and how long should my ground cables be?
I'm getting sick of this.
Radio: Kenwood DNX-8120
Amp: Alpine PDX-5
Sub: JL 10w1v2 (I believe)
Speakers: Infinity 6.75"
Cabling: StreetWires 6-Channel ZeroNoise cables, PowerAcoustik Power and Ground Cables (4GA I believe), Speaker Wires is that thick one that has like 9 wires inside of one thick wrap...
Cap: Tsunami 1.2 Farad

Okay, I'll give that a try.
My RCA's go down the middle of the car. My power goes down the left side. They only come close to each other when they pass under the rear seat.
I'll have to try what you suggested though.

Well I changed the grounds to the trunk by drilling them into the trunk (and I tried to get as much paint off the spots as I could first) but I still have whine. I'm going to reground the stereo next with it's own dedicated ground directly to the battery.
So I finally ended up going to the audio place where I got the install done since I couldn't get the noise to stop. He took a look and said that one of the channels on the amp seemed to have died. He hooked up a random speaker from the shop to make sure that it wasn't the speaker and the noise persisted so he said it was the amp. However, I forgot to mention to him that when I played with the wires the noise would stop until recently. So i'm guessing it's just the wiring that's the issue? But a new problem just started a few nights ago.. When I first turn on the radio it will play for about 5 seconds and then the amp just cuts out and when I go look at the amp the blue "rainbow" symbol is blinking.. So is it just all the amp after-all? This issue doesn't happen all the time though. One day it started doing it and all day; I couldn't get it to stay on for more then 5 seconds and then the next day it was fine. Tonight it happened again and I just turned off the radio turned it back on and it was fine. Wtf? I also only have 3 speakers atm because the guy at the audio place disconnected the speaker that was doing it since he told me I would need to get the warranty stuff figured so that was temp until I figured it out. But that's kind of a worst case scenario for me since I would hate to wait for a new amp :/. I'm also pretty audio illiterate so can't do much.. Ideas?
So I was able to find out what was wrong.. I went to imagine audio to get it looked at because I was fed up with the place that did the install. They told me that there was in fact something wrong with the amp and when they removed it for me they saw why. Apparently the place that did the install used their own brackets and screwed them right into the amp itself. To do this they removed the back plate of the amp which has a sticker that says "If removed warranty is voided" and put it back on but it was clearly opened. The guy at imagine audio said before he looked at it that he doubted it was the amp since rainbow is such a good company and it turned out to be the installers that really messed up. Wonderful..
who has the ansewer to this?
I am having an issue with my headunit distorting lower frequencies. I have connected an ipod directly to the amp and it plays fine. but as soon as i play it through the radio the woofer part of the component speaker goes out and the tweeters play fine but the woofer sound robotic and distorted. anyone have an idea of what it could be?
Im also having problems with static. Its actually coming from my rear speakers though. A couple of weeks ago they were playing fine and then they sounded distorted. Lots of static but you can still hear a little bit of the words. Not to sure whats going on with it so i unplugged them. After a few days i plugged them back up and the problem was still there. Both of the front speakers work just fine but its just the two back. I tried playing just one of them but its still staticy. Any solutions?
