I just blew one of my 6x9s (I think its a 6x9) in my 2005 SE with standard stereo system. Im thinkin these speakers since most factory speakers are a 4 ohm speaker. I bought some nice infinity speakers, but they run at 2 ohms...is this going to cause problems with my factory head unit? If so, is there an easy fix to this problem or should I take them back and get different speakers that are 2 ohm? Sorry about the NEWBIE ? ha

Ya I saw that thread but it just had a possible outcome of what would happen...not a way to solve the problem on running a 2 ohm speakers on a 4 ohm expectant head unit. I want to know if there is an easy way to use 2 ohm speakers on a 4 ohm system set-up without it causing any problems? And also while I'm here, is still having my blown speaker hooked up and sounding like shat going to hurt my system at all? Only until I get a chance to swap em out with the new ones. Thanks in advance

 

Is this how to do it??? Did some more research and want to run it by some people...instead of the subs n the picture it will be my speakers and i will just hook up the positive and negative into the factory amp like shown.

stop being a cheap ***, get speakers that will work

1)if hooked up as pictured you will not have stereo
2)you will be sending half the power to each speaker and considering that the factory system is puny at best it is not a viable choice


no there is no way around it, either deal with a poissible scenario that I described or get speakers that work

They will work. And infinity's aren't 'cheap' speakers by most regards, minus audiophiles of course. Wire them up as you normally would, and take a multimeter to behind the headunit and test the resistance (ohms) on that speaker. It should be damn near 3.5 or more ohms. Which is fine. Some infinity models take impedance rise and other factors into account, so that you're not left with 5ohms or higher at the headunit.
