Home Theater question
Sorry if this isn't the right section, it seemed the closest section to my problem. I have an old home theater receiver, JVC RX-552V, along with my parents old set of Boston Acoustics speakers. I have the center, both front, both rear, and a sub, but the receiver only has inputs for center, front, and rear. The 5 speakers have little to no bass. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to hook up the sub to receiver. I can take pictures if they'll be any help. Thanks in advance.

I think you're only option is to get a reciever with the passive sub output if you want to get a clean signal to a self powered sub...
Anything else will be a mickymouse job, and you'd not be satisfied.
You might find some decent stuff in pawn shops right now...just make sure you get at least a 30 day money back option...

passive sub? Can you run the left and right into the sub and then out to the speakers?
My polks have that option. I think the sub has a crossover or something built in.
I opted to spend something like 80 bucks on a "directional" sub interconnect. Back when I trusted the sales guys at the stores. Man I had sucker written all over me.

Does it have active inputs, and active outputs? Or just inputs? I'm talking about the red/black connectors, not the RCA passive input.
If it's got outputs, they are probably filtered through a crossover, so that when you come in with a powered signal from the receiver, lows go are converted passive to the powered sub amp, and the rest of the higher frequencies go out the active outputs for the satellite speakers.
Now if you only have an input, you'll probably have to bridge the wires in, and back out to one of the front speakers. That's the mickymouse I was talking about before...It should work, but you might get attenuation to the sub or the satellite that's hooked up to it.

the only plugs are labelled Speaker Level In. There are L and R, black and red for each. So I would send wires from the front spots in the receiver to the sub and then more wires from the sub to the front speakers?
