Bose Speakers w/ Aftermarket HU

Have 93 se w/ bose system. Bought the car used and it came with aftermarket Alpine HU. There is a ton of distortion which I assume is caused by an overload of power, i.e. the amplifier from bose, and the amplied signal out of HU. Is there way a way to detach/ground the bose amplifiers and connect the HU directly to the bose speakers? I had heard that the impedence on the bose speakers would create a problem if done this way.

Nissan would not have this part. Most car audio shops do carry them.

i just put in a pioneer headunit in my bose system.all you need is a bose oem adapter from crutchfield $50 or if you go to bestbuys you get a headunit adapter and an antenna adapter(you need both) for less than $40 bucks.good luck!!

I'm getting an aftermarket HU - JVC SH 707 and I want to do the same thing - hook it up to my stock bose system.

What kind of bose adapter did you buy? from where ?

by using this adapter, are you in any way, decreasing the sound

quality ?

you're not affecting the sound quality at all. All you need is the headunit adapter and the antenna adapter. I got mines installed at bestbuys which isn't the most reliable place and it only cost me like $40 for both adapters and $50 for the installation. It sounds great because the new hu puts out a lot more than the bose hu with roughly the same amount of ohms.
