small prob i suppose, sub whines?

heya, recently i installed an ipod hookup to my HU, not saying thats the prob. but i think it did start around the same time as when i put it in.

anywho, lately when i turn the car on, shortly after my sub kicks in i get this high pitch whine type sound, that kinda flows to the beat of the music.

after a while it stops, thought it might have been my grounds but i checked them all and they seem to be fine.

anyone have an idea as to what it could be? could my alternator be causing this?

doubt its the sub really, but i really dunno what it could be at all.

What headunit is it? Does it only occur through the iPod?

Is it an Alpine?

Older pioneer? Might be the HU itself.

Try swapping out your RCA's.

ok update, rather than replacing the rca's before i know thats the prob i decided to unhook them from the amp

now the sub gets no signal and still the noise is there, i'm guessing its the amp that is messed up

could possibly be the headunit i suppose, i only unhooked the rca's power/ground/remote still hooked up.

If you unhooked the RCA's it's not the RCA's or your HU. It's either your amp or your wiring to the speakers.
