AMP Shorting

Okay, so I took out my amp & sub for the winter cause the sub was my neighbours and there was no use having an amp in my car for no reason. I have a MTX Terminator amp, dont comment on it im not big on audio so it works great for me.

So I hooked my amp back up(I had left all the wiring still there, fuze unhooked though) and when I turned the car on to see if the amp turned on...BAM the 25amp fuze blows in the amp, so I drive over to Wal-Mart and pick up 5 more, put another one in thinking maybe I just screwed up the fuze from taking the amp out. But the fize blows again.

So I than checked the wiring on the amp making sure that the power was at the power part and the ground was grounded and all. Its all in the right place. Now my question is for all you audio Guru's, what could cause the amp to keep shorting out? Do you think leaving the wiring in the car during the winter could have made a cut in the wiring causing a short?

If its the amp's fuze that is shorting out would it have to do with the wiring or would that be the fuze near my battery? Could leaving my amp in my shed during winter have ruined the amp? It did not get wet at all just really really cold, but it would have gotten just as cold in my trunk.

Anyways sorry for the long rant but this is really making me scratch my head. Any information or tips would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance for any help. If you need to know anymore questions about the amp or deck I am using feel free to ask. Cheers!

A fault in the amp is causing the fuse on the amp to blow. If there was a fault in your power run it would be blowing the fuse at the battery. Options are to get the amp repaired or replaced. Storage in a shed is the worst for electronics. There is much more moisture in the air of a shed to corrode **** than there would have been in your car or even inside your house under the bed. Too bad you had to learn the hard way.

It is still under warrenty with MTX as I had bought it just in the summer. Would MTX still replace it even though it was moisture? Technically if it was in my trunk the whole time there could have been moisture buildup in there too?

Wouldn't hurt to try a warranty repair through them.

Agreed, i would atleast try. Depends on who ya get. I had an older amp replaced that was almost a year out of warranty thru them. Same amp came back, but it was a new upgraded motherboard.
