Where should I feed the power wire thru?

I'm going to install a converter so I can hook up a box and amp to the factory radio. I was wondering where you guys are feeding the power wire from the battery thru engine bay. I looked around and could figure where to put it thru. Also I have the stock BOSE, is there an amp in the trunk that I could work off or is it better to go directly to the battery? One more question, where did you put the remote wire to? thanks for your help fellas

assuming you are auto. if you look by the brake pedal inside of the car there will be a template for the clutch drill through there and you should be good.

for the remote wire just splice into the bose remote turn on wire i think its the green wire in the speaker on the right.

I ran mine down the engine bay and followed the 4 pipes? running back to what looks to be the gas tank(underneath the car that is). I then ran it through where the spare is. there is a little rubber seal that i cut and X into and feed the wire through there. after all was working and ran i zipped tied it tight.

hope it helps.

just thought to look. Mine is a 2000 maxima. But im willing to bet your will be something like this.

You should never run any power under the car...too many environmental issues that can degrade the wire. I hope you at least put extra insulation around it and sealed it shut. That said, if it works, I guess it works...

Running power wire under the car is fine, there are many ways to do it safely.

Never had a problem. Had a blazer that I use to take mudding and it was the same way. Hit rocks with it and everything. No problem. I think if it can take the heat from the engine"saying you got a wire that was heat rated" that it can take just about anything else.

I already conceded that if it works, so be it. Just saying, if you are going to do it right, do it inside the car.

Drill a hole about a half a foot to a foot above the brake pedal on the firewall. Thats what i did. Just be careful and work slowly...don't push... let the drill bit do the work and you should be alright. Once you feel it go through the metal don't jam is through. feed the wire through the hole from the inside of the car and then look down into the engine and fine it. I've done it to three different cars and this is usually the best place. If all else fails, take it to an audio store and have them drill you a hole. Some places do it for around 20$. Also hook the remote wire to the amp to the blue wire on the back of the head unit. If it is a factory unit i have no idea what wire to hook the remote into. you might want to take it to an audio shop for that one.

I just took a picture of where the hole should be drilled and where it will come out. This will be on a 5th gen but you can use it as a reference. I'll post it up in a little bit.

Yes it has it's own amp.

No you do not need a capacitor.

I hope you were asking those questions unrelated.

Did you ever figure out where to drill this hole? If so, please post a pic. I'm having the same issue and have a 6 speed as well. Or if anyone else has a pic they'd like to share I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
