What's the best way to test subs to make sure they work?

I bought a project car and it came with two 8in sony xplod subwoofers in two separate enclosures. I don't want them and I'm going to sell them. What's the easiest way to see if they work?

take battery and touch the leads to the sub. it'll pop out or in depending on the polarity.

1. hook up to amp/receiver of some sort.
2. play music.
3. listen for ugly noises. if no noise, they're broke. If noise is ugly, they suck. if noise is good, then the subs are fine. sell them.

multimeter to coils, check impedance.. push cone in an out, feel for any rubbing/scratching, looseness. Pop them with a cordless drill battery
