Kick panels for a 7th gen
Kick panels for a 7th gen
I've got an '09 SV Sport and was wondering if anyone had seen kick panels being made for them yet. I checked QForms but they don't have anything. I need to get a call into them and see if something is in the works.
I'm really hoping to get a 4" or 5" midrange into kick panels along with my 1" tweeter and 6 1/2" midbass in the doors.
Thanks,
Ed

An update from QLogic. They stated on the phone today that they have no intention of making kick panels for the 7th generation Maxima. Their statement was that they haven't gotten enough calls asking for them. I told them that most people are going to ask a dealer or check the internet. A dealer will most likely grab the application guide and if they don't see it, they won't call. (That's what mine did)
That being said, waiting for people to call you and tell you what products to make seems like a pretty poor way of estimating market demand.
Oh well, custom work it is!

I had some custom ones made for my 06, but sold them. I initially had them made to house some 8" midbasses, but there was simply not enough airspace in the kicks to let the speakers perform optimumally without sounding very peaky. Sooooo....I just cut some holes into the stock kicks so I can mount my 3" midranges in there, and the 8"s went to the doors. Tweeters are in the A-pillars aimed on axis.
I ended up with a set of Hertz HSK 165XL's for the front stage. For the time being i'm just going to mount them in the stock 6x9 locations and dynamat the crap out of it.
I'll make some custom kick panels and relocate the tweeters and add some 3" or 4" midranges later.
I'm actually kind of glad I didn't go with the non-XL component set from Hertz. According to everything I've read, the new XL's blow away the older component sets. I certainly like them.
