Has anyone installed an aftermarket alarm in their max?

My 98 has factory system, but I want to install an aftermarket system in place of / augmenting that one. Mainly because I want passive arming / locking.

If anyone has done this, were there any issues you encountered, or that I should be aware of?

What type of door locks are these cars using, so I can wire the new system correctly, to keep the driver's door priority, etc... ?

 

You need to start off by knowing all the wires from the below table. No remote start then it would simple. Next, knowing how to remove under the dash plastics, door panel and plastic kick plate. These things are simple but take time. You don't have to buy an expensive brand for lock/unlock function.

Id highly suggest taking it to a shop if you've never installed one before. its pretty easy to blow an ecu, are you willing to risk it? On top of that, you have to run wires in the door and such.. make sure when or if you go to a shop you tell them you want passive and drivers priority, they won't know to do it with a basic install.. (passive is just a setting in the alarm, drivers priority generally requires more labor)

 

Sorry, been busy, and let this thread get away from me - i have done installs before - but nothing on a car that already HAD a factory alarm like this one...

I have no problem with wiring, etc... basically, my biggest issue - as I am not an engineer, and will ot pretend to be able to design a circuit from scratch, I need some assist with how to wire the relays, etc..., for the factory alarm disarm, and driver's door priority...

I have looked, and found nothing on this...
