Can't stop Battery corrosion

Positive battery post is constantly covered in corrosion. Not sure how to stop it. I installed the Bat myself about 6 months ago or so, put the cloth protector ring under the terminal connectors, and sprayed both terminals with that red stuff that's supposed to prevent the growth.

I'm going to remove the bat and clean everything up good, but was wondering if there's anything I can do to prevent this from happening again.

I have a grounding kit installed, and the positive lead to the amp for my sub is attached directly to the Pos terminal. It's a tight connection on all points.

Thanks,

Get a new battery and post pics of your terminals. Your connection is less than optimal and your battery is leaking acid, contributing to the corrosion.
Bad connection + acid = electrolysis.

^^ what he said

they sell corrosion stoppers (we use em at work) there cotton circles that are covered in a type of liquid that prevent corrosion.

That's what I'm saying I used, both products when I installed the new batt about 6 months or so ago...

asand1, you're suggesting it's a leak somewhere causing this? Interesting...I'll have to find the receipt and take it back to where I got it. Can't hurt...

^ what he said. I'd use dielectric grease cause its cheap, and stays on longer, but they will both perform pretty much the same task.

most common causes for corrosion are worn terminals, dirty connections and dirty batteries, and leaking batteries

Vaseline, navel jelly (if thats what I remember reading), those corrosion stoppers, or anti-corrosion spray. Its this purple spray, I spray it on the terminals and its corrosion free all year round.
