Will a different faceplate work on another Unit?

Say it's 2 models, but 1 is an older version of another, will the face plate off the older version work on the newer version the same? Or is it possible?

I am about to buy one that is said to be working the same way.. the units features are basically the same, but the faceplate layout is slightly different.. just wondering if this is something that isn't a problem?

I trust the sellers word , but i'm just curious...

thanks..

Yes its possible but most/some button may or may not work. My bro had a Alpine 7825 cd player and his face plate broke. I had a 7826 face plate as a spare and it worked. The only difference between the two decks was one had 1 preout and the other had 2.

Well.. just if it makes a difference or if you know by any chance..

the original unit is Pioneer DEH-P9200

while the face place is off a P8000:

They seem close enough to me

ALSO.... while i have your attention...

Is there any difference between P9200 and P8000? Pioneers site doesn't give much insight on the specs & features, but the ones they do list are all the same.

thank you.

I havent carried Pioneer in about 4 years so I'm not familiar with their current line. PM SWEETWOUND2001. He works also at a stereo shop somewhere in Los Angeles and I think he carries Pioneer. I would think if both models are manufactured in the same year I would say yes to a point.

It depends on how the faceplates are attached to the deck. You should look at the backs of both and see if they line up correctly.

I swapped the faceplates in my buddy's car and it works great.
