2k2 Bose System Replacement - What a PITA

Does anyone have a working link to the "Want to replace the Bose system completely?" featured here?

Looking to completely replace my Blose system in my 2k2 SE.

The line up:

Pioneer DEH-P6200BT (6-channel)
Infinity Reference or Alpine R coaxials (front and rear)
Infinity Basslink

I'm not looking for a heavy system, just a replacement to this stock garbage. I am not looking to amp my the coaxials either, just plan on amping the 4 speakers via the HU and the Basslink is already self-amped. I'll be rewiring as well.

DISCLAIMER: I just spent the last 2 hours reading round-about answers via searching and tried to follow broken links but with little luck. My apologies if I'm beating a dead horse.

Questions:

1) Is the wiring process tedious? I'm assuming I'd run wire from the HU to the speakers and then separate wire from the HU to the Basslink?

2) For those who have a 2k2 or 2k3 BOSE and replaced it, any pointers?

Thanks in advance.

So after a day's worth of research, I'm pretty confident that this will not be difficult. I plan on using either 14 or 16 gauge speaker wire and running it from the HU to the speakers. And then just purchase a typical amp wiring kit for the Infinity Basslink.

For the 02 and 03ers with the BOSE set up, who has done similar? I'd still appreciate some pointers if possible.

i have a 4th gen, stock bose, same principal...i ran new speaker wires from my 4ch amp to each speaker, but in your case, you can run them from the hu harness to each speaker. and exactly as you stated, get a pwr wire kit and run the remote wire from the basslink to the amp turn on wire behind the hu.

Use 18 ga, 14 or 16 is absolutely over kill for HU power.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Nismos: The price difference is negligible between 16 and 18 gauge wiring, and I can't imagine 16 gauge being that difficult to hide. Is it really not even worth the extra couple of bucks? I'm OK with it if even theoretically it should increase SQ. The input is appreciated!

Go for it if you want, but 18 is the better bet IMO.

16awg is not difficult to hide.

Hell, if you know what you're doing, 0awg power wire isn't difficult to hide.

nismos, if he every decides to amp the speakers, at least adequate wiring is already run.

I'd go with 16awg, especially since cost is negligible. It's the 'standard.'

Thanks for the input guys. Any recommendation on wires brands, or are they all the same?

From reading, all I pretty much found out is that Monster is overpriced.

Just look for the cheapest 16ga OFC you can find.

Well, after countless hours, 12 cuts on my hands, a sore back and raw fingers, the install is complete!

Front: Infinity 6031si
Rear: Infinity 5032cf
Receiver: Pioneer DEH-6200BT
16 gauge wire throughout

Was able to fish-line the wire through the rubber hose in the rear door hinges, but did not even ATTEMPT for the fronts. Ended up drilling a hole right below the rubber hose connection and that worked perfectly.

I've never done this type of install before, but I sure am glad with the end result! If anyone needs pointers for a complete rewire for a 2k2 or 2k3 Bose (non-navigation), let me know.

Now, onto an amplifier and sub woofer. Going to listen to some tomorrow. Want to keep it all under $200.00 (taking suggestions as well).
