Head Unit Stopped Working?

Hey guys,

I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima SE and the LCD display for the radio/cd no longer works. CDs play fine, but that's about it. It used to be that I could press the LCD and it would come back on, but it's just -DEAD.

Is there anything I can do like a head unit swap, or should I just get a replacement unit from crutchfield and go aftermarket?

No, taking it to the dealer is your only option. Hope you get a big tax refund.

You might want to consider these guys, I have the same problem on top of my CD player skipping like there's an earthquake. I don't want to lose my steering wheel controls, I'm spoiled now, and I'm considering yanking it out and shipping it off to be repaired.

WTF?

WRONG. You can go to the dealership if you enjoy prison-style activities.

Or you can buy a replacement deck from the classifieds section here.

Or just get an aftermarket head unit and be done with it. It will make the rest of your system sound better.
