Speaker recommendations of the year.

Somehow the people on this site seem to be more into stereo installs that any other site I've been on. I sold my maxima a few years back and after all the forums I've been on this is the only one that even seems to know anything about higher end equipment. I now drive an 08 BMW 135i which has for the size a decent setup unfortunately are 4" speakers with some subs under the seats. Subs are easy enough to replace but the 4's in the doors not so much. I know a few of the guys here have extensive knowledge of doing some incredible things. Given I haven't been researching speakers in a few years and most always end up getting bought out does anybody have any experience with BMW's and going to something worthy of putting in a nice car. I don't expect a 8" to be able to fit but a shallow good quality 5.25 or possibly even a 6.5 should be doable. I haven't measured the factory amps yet to see how big they are but some amp recommendations for what is good now days wouldn't hurt either. Nothing ridiculous but something good sounding and I typically listen to rock.

Thanks,
Bruce

Don't really have one. At the same time I'm not trying to have a competition worthy car.

Depends what your looking for Alpine sounds good if you get like type R or X but those speakers have to be amped or they sound like junk kicker is good also. Find out the amp Rims rating and match a. Name brand speaker with the power rating so this way its performing at its optimal

Well I'm a big fan of DLS and Morel. They are great sounding speakers! I'm running a 3-way setup from DLS as my front stage and could not be happier. So I'd look into these two companies. I would also shoot pearl96max a PM and ask for some quotes. I'm sure he'll also give you some nice recommendations as well.

If you want the best, IMO, go with dynudio drivers, a System 342 shouldn't be that difficult to make work. It shouldn't murder you in price either. I've gone through hundreds of speakers, but the System 360 in my car is the only set I have had longer than a year, ever. I've had them in for almost 3 years and they are perfect.

Oh ouch ! BMW is Not the Ultimate Listening Machine ! e9x/e60/e8x = Terrible audio even with L7 or the newer EPS. Rubbish ! I cannot blame you for wanting to upgrade.

The majority of choices out there simply will Not fit without major modification. There are a few, but not in the commonplace of names.

Your absolute best bet would be to start here:

We have had Excellent results with the Flatline systems. The doorboards are more for the extremist, but we do a fair amount of them as well.

His ONLY choice without Massive fabrication would be 430s in the door, 102s in the sail. No mid bass though, unless 162s in the underseat which would not perform well and would still need some work to fit. Alternatively 162/172s in the kicks. Not a bunch of real estate available in the kicks either though !

The plug is appreciated though.
