What 100 watt speakers fits a 5th gen?

What size speakers can you get into the doors of a 2k2 Max? Some suggestions as to the brand also. All the 6.25 and 5.25 speakers I see are only rated at 50watts. I have a 400 watt amp, so who makes something that will take this 100 watts a channel in 5.25 or 6.25 sizes for the front and back doors.

There seems to be some argument as to if a 6 1/2 will fit in the doors of the 2k2?

Crutchfield online isn't much help.

thanks

I have Infinity Reference Components (605 CS) up front and (2-ways) 652i's in the back. Both are 6 1/2".

They fit but you need a bracket for it. You can use your existing brackets (however this would entail you destroying your stock speakers as the brackets are integrated to the speaker itself). Other alternatives is to purchase brackets at your local car install store or by buying the OEM Nissan brackets (better integration).

I went and purchased the brackets from my local Cartoys.

The tweets upfront needed some minor modifications but it fit the stock A-Pillar location pretty well.

Given i opted to keep the stock HU this set sound pretty good! Even better than my last car which had the Kenwood eXcelon + Cerwin Vega comps and 3 ways.

Re: Re: What 100 watt speakers fits a 5th gen?

thanks for the info. In checking the specs for these speakers, looks to me that 2 1/16" is the mounting depth for the doors. Is that the "safe" mounting depth that will hide the speaker behind the door without any buldges? Or can I go a "little" deeper with the mounting depth in the doors?

I will buy mounting brackets from cartoys or nissian, probably cartoys.com. Have you noticed that the 2002 is not listed on most sites for model year? Cartoys and crutchfield both don't have 2002 Max's in their online config tools.

thanks!

I'd say that's the safest you could go. It's just bare metal behind that pillar so either you a) Drill into the metal or b) put some custom work into the pillar, then you're better off just sticking to that depth size or less.

2002 is listed on both Cartoys and Crutchfield. Been there since early December. I rechecked again today and it's there alright.
