Replace head unit on '02 Maxima with factory NAV

I just bought an '02 Maxima with factory Navigation. It has the Bose system below the nav unit with 6 cd changer in the trunk.

I would like to replace the head unit in order to get something with ideally a usb or aux input and bluetooth but I would like to retain the functionality of my factory nav unit as well as the steering wheel stereo controls.

I spoke with the owner of a local car stereo shop today that told me no one made an installation kit for my car and that although they could fabricate something that I could replace my head unit but would lose the functionality of my nav system.

I have done some searches but couldn't really find anything definitive on how this might work so have any of you that have a 5.5 gen with factory nav been able to replace the head unit and still retain the functionality of the factory nav unit?

As you know since Nissan was bright enough to include the climate control buttons in the nav unit it is not an option to just replace the whole thing.

Thanks for any info..

Hey, I just seen your message you sent me.

First since you want to keep the factory nav. You will need a single din head unit with whatever preference you need. The alpine CDA-117 which I have can do pretty much what you need. But I believe that head unit is discontinued.

You will have to fabricate a dash kit. Since they never made one. I never got a chance to do that yet but i'm pretty sure you could. If you do please inform me which kit you used please. thanks

I did the install with my uncle he has some knowledge on installing headunits & alarms. The climate control still works & Navigation. The Only problem I have is the spoken directions does not come thru the speakers. I'm not sure if you could get that to work maybe a well experience installer can make that work.

The steering wheel controls should work you will have to get the adapter. I never did it I was planning to right now I'm focusing on repairs . I got 115K issues keep popping up. :-(

Also if you want I believe i came across someone on the forum did a double din head unit & install the regular climate control buttons.

That's how my dash looks right now i hate that space.
