should I get a TomTom Nav?

My sister and brother both have navigation units and its pretty handy, so I'm thinking about getting one. I think they both have Tomtoms, should I go for that or do you have any suggestions?

Like Maxfiyah stated the Tomtoms are not great.. I started off with a Magellan Maestro that was awesome, it was 2005 though and finally wanted to jump on the Garmin train. I'm impressed. I purchased a Garmin Nuvi 3790 LMT. With the free lifetime maps, it's hands free and resembles an Iphone because it's very thin and has glass like screen with no border. You can't go wrong with Garmin IMO.

My wife and father in law both have tomtom and so long as the maps stay updated, there's been no issues.

My aunt has a Garmin (bought this Christmas) and it works just fine as well.

Either way, get something that features free map updates (as previously mentioned).

Do you have a smartphone? Google Maps has a decent navigation app that behaves just like a tomtom/garmin, voice and everything...

I bought my mom a TomTom Via 5" with lifetime maps and traffic and excellent voice recognition. She loves it. Definitely a nice little unit.

I have an older TomTom that no longer qualifies for free map updates. It works fine, never a problem. I have only found 2 errors in the maps, one in Texas and one in Florida, but maybe the new maps have them corrected.

Google Maps is better and free if you have an Iphone or Android device.
