Installed Pioneer P9200 headunit... some questions..

first of all, thanks to Anton (SWEETSOUND2001) this thing is very nice, everything works well...

I have some questions,

When I shut off the car, the face folds down.. and stays that way. For it to stand straight, i need to press the Open button again. Is there a way to program it to not do that? or it's just like that? no big deal, just asking.. since i have no manual with it.

Also,
When I turn the thing on, and listen to the radio... then i just pop in a cd... the antenna is still up, is it supposed to do that? or should i turn it off and turn it back on with out turning on the radio?

silly questions, but i was just curious..thanks..

Yes. Pioneer doesnt support that if the cd is playing the antenna goes down. I think only sony and one other co. has that feature. I dont know why you face stays down after you take out the keys. It should stay down for like couple of minutes and suppose to go back to its position. have you try waiting or it just stays down? I am not sure if 9200 model does it cuz i have a friend who has dx-pr1 pioneer and his does it. hope this helped....

oh i see... thanks.. I just talked to my friend his deck flips down after a little bit as well... I haven't tried that,

kctyphoon, i actually got this one because I got a good deal on it used. I heard it's pretty reliable, I liked the face layout as well, not complex, good graphics, 3 screen savers, nice and bright in the day as well as the night, It was either this one, or the Eclipse 54010 or something like that but NEW. My deck has like 11 months left on the warranty though the person i got it from, so i figured why not. I can't tell a big difference between sound since everything else in the car is stock.

btw... 2 more questions .

another thing, which is weird.. when I turn the key and dash lights up, the deck begins to work, but the volume doesn't what the hell is that? It doesn't bother me much either, just a weird thing..

also, can i read up on all the options and features somewhere, or get a factory manual seperately?

thanks

I'm pretty sure you can download a PDF from the pioneer website.

You can istall a switch to keep the antenna down when you have a cd playing. Just put a simple on/off switch between the deck and the antenna. i did it and it works great. I mounted it on one of the "blank" switch plates on the dash by the steering column on my 4th gen. Hope this helps.

sorry, i don't know what you mean by "powering antenna with" I just plugged it in, the deck was prewired for a Maxima, I just got a Nissan Antenna adapter and that's it. It works fine, but the antenna goes up with the power, if the deck is on, and even it's a CD playing, it stays up. Others are saying they experience similar things with their Pioneers? It really doesn't bother me that much, I actually rarely use the radio anyways, may just disconnect it. But I'll still add a switch later on.

A switch took me a whole 5 min to wire and get working. I can post pics if you want me to. But it'll only be of the switch itself. Pretty simple stuff. Cost less than $5 for the switch and the switch cover which is just a black rubber boot to go over it so that it matches the dash. I could do a write up if you really want me to but it's pretty easy to figure out on your owm

Pioneer head units have the same output for the amp and power antenna turn on. This means when the head unit is on, the antenna will always be up. The faceplate going down is a built-in safety feature to remind you to remove your face when you leave the car. It goes back up automatically after about 30 seconds.

Right, but, when you eject a CD the head unit turns off, and the antenna goes down. And as soon as you put a new CD in it goes back up. This is pretty annoying, hence the switch that I installed so that when I'm not listining to the radio, I can keep the antenna down

it sounds like u hooked up your antenna to the remote turn on wire that is used if u have an amp hooked up. There should be another wire for the antenna.

As Anton stated above, "Pioneer head units have the same output for the amp and power antenna turn on."
