After market HU Fitting

I am looking to install JVC-KW-R900BT to the 95 Max GLE (Bose). Here is the dimensions that I got from JVC website:

Installation Size: 182 x 111 x 159.5 mm
Panel size: 187.6 x 118.6 x 18mm

However, The car "wood" trim opening is about 175 x 105mm (at least 10mm smaller).

For those of you have installed the after market HU, what do you guys do with the trim?

Thanks

Typically there is a gap with most aftermarket.

If it were me, I wouldn't get it if it was too big for the trim.

You can always use a dremel, but I'm not sure what the final result would look like.

Make sure you get a limiter if your still using your Bose speakers and old wiring!!

No one has the JVC KW-R900BT installed? Guess I will have to go with the Clarion CX501.

Just an update - Got the radio (JVC KW-R900BT) and installed it yesterday. It sounds great, both USB and Bluetooth work as expected.

The HU fit pretty well (There is a small gap at the bottom, but not really noticeable.

Here are a few things worth noting:
(1) There is a popping sound when the unit is power on/off. I guess it is because I am using the 70-7551 (pre-amp RCA line out). I will probably live with it, at least for now.
(2) The JVC doesn't have power antenna wire. I connected it to the amp power so that it will extend for better signal. But the downside is the antenna is always extended when the unit is on regardless listening to CD or iPhone.
(3) The stock mounting bracket doesn't fit the pre-drilled mounting hole. I ended up re-drill extra holes and grind off the stock countersink.

Your antenna issue could be resolved by using a manual switch. I had to do that on my 96 when I installed a Pioneer headunit many years back. I rarely listen to the radio, & I didn't want all that wear & tear on the antenna motor.

Good point. I probably leave it for now as I almost always listen to radio...
