Amp Power
Amp Power
Ok, so i have 2 Rockford Fosgate 12" r1's and a Rockford r500-1 amp. I know this isn't the "best" setup and rockford isnt the "best" brand by any means. When my friends are like "how many watts is your amp?" and i tell them its 500 Watts they look at me like i have a piece of **** system or something when they havent even heard it, they think just cause their amp "puts out 1600 watts" that its so much better than mine just cause mines only 500 watts.. but my question is, Would my Rockford amp, even though its only 500 watts, outdo say a Sony or Boss amp that is apparently "1600 watts"? Ive always heard that Rockford makes really quality amps and they are actually underrated, which is part of the reason i went with Rockford.
Too bad i had no questions about the speakers whatsoever. Try reading the post in its entirety next time, or if that poses a problem then maybe sue your first grade teacher for failing to teach you how to read, before posting your completely ignorant response.
It's all about the RMS.
I chose kicker because they always underrate their amps.
I have a z750 and it has a certified tested output of 920.
Do some research on your amp.
Google is your friend.
Almost all amp companies post the highest possible number just to catch your attention and your money.

Rockford will out do the sony and boss even If it is the r series, but like ^ said it's all about rms not total power. Rockford came out with the r series for people who want just enough bump to sound good but at the same time not break the bank at all. (they have the power series for that.) Rockford is all quality. I've been doing things in the car audio field since I was 16 and I've had various brands/set up and from my experience Rockford is some of the best you can get your hands on that's reasonably priced. If your looking to up grade try a punch series but veer away from boss or Jensen or any thing like that. Yes it's cheaper but you get what you pay for. Just my 2 cents

Rockford Fosgate makes good gear. I've used several of their amps in the past few years, never had any issues. While I've only recently used their Power Series amps, I would think the same is true for your Rockford gear. I would not have any issues running their gear. Just make sure everything is set up correctly (gain set properly & speakers in the correct enclosure), & you should be fine.
