I see there is a great difference in price in the 2 way and 3 way systems but what is the difference?

One has four speakers (tweet, mid) the other has six ( tweet, midbass, midrange)

So the three way system would have the speakers for the front and back and the tweeters?

No, all 3 speakers would be used in the same location, either up front or in the back. By using a 3 way over a 2 way, each speaker has fewer frequencies to worry about reproducing over a 2 way, so they can do it with less effort, as well as the 4" midrange can reproduce the mids better than a larger woofer, giving you an overall better quality sound. The catch is they need more opwer to run them, a custom installation job of some sort to mount the midrange somewhere, and trhe cost is higher than the 2 way. Unless you are looking to compete, or you want the best sound you can get from your system, a 2 way would serve your needs quite well.

A 3 way setup is usally done like this: Midrange (4" or 5") in the kick and then midbass (6.5 or with focal 7") in the door. Then you take and mount the tweeter in the kick or piller or where ever you feel like it.

If you not doing kicks and just putting them in the stock locations get the 2 way 6.5 and tweet.
