Deep technical dive into the BOSE Stock Stereo System
Deep technical dive into the BOSE Stock Stereo System
Greetings all,
I very recently acquired a 2001 Infiniti i30 and I want to deep dive into the BOSE System it came with so I have enough information and knowledge before jumping into replacing the stock Head Unit.
Mainly, I would like to know if there was any EQ or DSP work done *within* either the Head Unit, or the BOSE Amps in order to 'tune' the speakers to our particular vehicles (it would make sense, since BOSE was all about making small speakers sound bigger), or is it just creative placement, etc. Also I would like to know how the subwoofer amp gets it's signal, from the rear speaker channels or directly from the Head Unit? I've had experiences before when replacing stock Head Units, suddenly it didn't 'sound' as good, and I'm thinking because of specific tuning. Essentially, I don't want to put an in-line MiniDSP between the new head unit and my BOSE Amps and have them color the audio on their own so I'm not fighting to tune the car.
For me, it's more about quality than quantity, if I do this, I want it to sound the best it can for my car, and I feel this is a good place to start. If anyone has some thoughts on the technical aspects, please feel free to share. Thanks!
