Sound System Help

ok here is my story. i have a 1995 maxima w/o bose. it has 4 speakers, 6 3/4 each. now i want a lot of bass and dont want to spend $$ on subs. so my friend suggested that I get 2 midrange speakers in the back and a component system in the front. woofers where the speakers would go and tweeters custom mounted on the dash. what do u guys think of this setup? has anyone done this b4? do i need a separate amp from the head unit? if so, which ones r good for around 200-250? and wat speakers/component systems do u recomend? thanx in advance, i really need some info on this.

The only way you can get a lot of bass is with a sub and a decent-size amp to push it. There are no free lunches.

I second that. People need to realize what bass really is and then ask themselves if a 6 in. cone can do it. After it's all said and done a 6 in. cone has very finite limitations. Use it for what it's intended and you won't have a tired tin can sound.

You'll have to specify what you mean by "a lot of bass", since it seems to depend a lot upon the music, the listener, and whether you're trying to make it "sound good" to the person inside the car or the people you pass on the street

Hey!!
Listen here!

6" inches would not give you the deep and boomy bass, but if you set the crossover point for the 6" down to 75 HZ (not lower) and turn the gain on you amplifier higher, but not to the point when the speaker will start clipping, it will be the most natural bass your mid-bass speakers can provide. By the way, they are called MID-BASS speakers, which means, not for deep bass, wich is below 65-75HZ.

You have to remember to give the most healthy (means real) power from the amplifier (forget running them without an amp) and only then you can get pretty dynamic mid-bass. Save money and get Arc Audio 4150 amp (85watts x 4). So you can run all four 6 and a halfs!!! Do not use lower size of the cones for the aplication you are looking for.

Just a good advise to Maxima-freind.
