box problem

I built a sealed box for two subs and a divider in the middle of the box. I hooked em up and it sounds like crap. when one sub goes in the other goes out, I sealed the box good so I don't know what the problem is

how are the subs wired? It sounds like they are wired in parallel and the connections may be reversed on one of the subs.

That was actually a very good description of "out of phase".

One woofer has the pos and neg connected backwards. Kinda like connecting two identical cars bumper to bumper and both drivers pushing the gas pedal. No matter how hard they try, in a perfectly linear scientific environment neither car will move. The net output of two woofers conected this way is the same. One cancells the other.

stupid question.. but do you have a wall inside the box seperating the chambers of the box for each sub? if you dont, thats why. the subs cannot be sharing the same airspace.

- Yes they can, it's a sealed box. But it may magnify the problem when wired out of phase.

i thought they could only share the same airspace if they were on the same channel? thats what i was told when i had my box made for my typhoon with 4 12's.

Thus a mono sub channel. As bass is non-directional, what other way would it be done?
