Help! I think my emblems are going to fly off my trunk soon. My trunk flexes about a total of one inch when bass hits. My trunk lid actually moves about a quarter of an inch (the gap between the window and trunk). My rear deck jumps up about a half an inch on bass. I think i can solve that one, but what will make my trunk stop from rattling/moving? I have some doubts that just putting dynamat on it will stop it. The bass is way too powerful. Btw the car is a 96 maxima gle (bose).

 

only thing you can do is start reinforcing everything in the trunk.
use 3/4" angle iron or square tubing with 1/8" wall, and start bolting it in wherever you can. it''ll be ugly, but at this point there's nothing you can do otherwise. Just do the best you can to reinforce the weak parts of the trunk and hide all the metal you can.. what you can't hide, paint over with matching paint or carpet.


you want tons of noise, you're going to have to use tons of bracing.

 

What kind of setup you running in that trunk?

Couldn't you vent the trunk somehow to avoid the pressure buildup? Perhaps cut a hole in the floor and work out some grill arrangement so that air can go in and out, but water can't come in? This is assuming you don't need the trunk sealed for your bass. If that's what you need, then you probably have to redo the latch (and maybe the hinges) somehow.

 

you could try porting your rear deck, but i dont wanna get flamed about that
