upgrading alternator wire.

I was installing a new battery terminal, and the wire from the alternator was a PITA to hook up because it is so short. I want to upgrade it to regular 4ga power wire. How do I go about doing that on a 4th gen?

trace the wire from the battery through the wiring harness and make sure it doesn't connect to anything else... then just hack out the old wire and stick the new one in its place.
you don't really have to remove the old one, but you DO need to make sure that waterver you replace doesn't bypass any sensors or regulators or fuses, etc.

Thats the problem, I can only trace it so far. I have no clue where it ends up at.

It goes to a 120 amp fuse in the box near the fender. I used a second wire to connect positive to the alt. Fused, actually used a circuit breaker, about 18 inches from the alt.

So you're saying that the 4ga wire goes to the fusebox and then the alt? As far as I can see mine drops down to somewhere under the intake assembly, and thats where I lose it.

I can't remember the exact path. I'd have to go look again, but the windchill is below 16 F now. I guess it's easier to follow in mine because I don't have the factory air box. If you open the fuse box, there is a 120 amp fuse in the 4th gen for the battery. That is where it goes coming from the alt.
