No holes for subwoofers to fire through in back seat
No holes for subwoofers to fire through in back seat
Hey,
I'm installing a couple of 12's in the trunk, but other than the armrest pass-through in the back seat there doesn't seem to be many openings for the sound to get through. Has anyone cut or modified the back seat bracing to allow for this? I know that bass frequencies in general are non directional, but all this metal in the seat has got to stifle a large portion of the sound.
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

OK, I've finally found something about the Maxima that I truly hate. After further investigation I've found that the trunk is better reinforced than Alcatraz. It seems my only options for descent bass from the trunk are: A) Cut out the 5" X 20"? openings in the center of the rear deck (I wonder if this is where the Bose Sub gets put), or, B) Build my box with a baffle directing towards the pass thru ski opening. Either way I think I'm going to have to build some sort of attachment to my box to direct the sound towards one of the openings. This would be so much easier if I was building a ported box, but I hate the boominess and distorted sound from those kind of boxes. I want a sealed enclosure that will give me tight, very responsive bass with a nice flat frequency response curve.
Well, Anyone out there built anything like this? Any ideas are welcome...

oh...and visit my homepage...
Well I figured out a solution that worked quite well. Instead of using 2 12's I just used one high power infinity 12". I built the box so that the woofer fires directly into the cabin from the trunk. It sounds great, and I didn't have to cut anything.
