6.5" subwoofers??

Hey all
I got an 98 MAX and the stock rear speakers are size 6.5 .
Now has any of you ever put in 6.5 subwoofer speakers and ran a ampp to push them??
If so..how does it sound.
I am thinking the the encloser would sound nice for bumps. I mean since regular 2 or 3 ways 6.5 speakers sound nice with little bumps anyways.

Any suggestions???

But there are some smal drivers made to play low frequencies. Focal has a 5 1/4 inch woofer. But it would not be hard to replace the 6 1/2 with a pair of free air 8's. And it would probably be cheaper than getting a small specialized speaker.

Ive heard a quad set of the focal 5" subs and they do play pretty well, they drop off at around 35hz though, and do probley get up around 115 db, not bad for some 5"s. But nothing beats a 10" and up for low end.

if you put a subwoofer in the door, then you'd better reinforce it somehow, otherwise your window motors and everything will crash.

Thinking of compact sources of bass, anyone tried mounting anything underneath the seats?

Kicker used to make a 6.5 free air sub but they will be hard to find now.

MB Quart QSD 164s a 6.5" midbass drivers. You won't find an actual "sub" woofter because the prefix sub means like 15-50Hz. You realistically won't find a 6.5" driver that will accurately and loudly depict anything lower than 65-75Hz and above.

The Quarts are pretty nice... pretty expensive, and require a good amp, but for what they are ya can't complain. If you want something cheap, go with the IDQ 6.5" midbass drivers. Can get those for just a hair over 100 dollars for a pair.

Acually a midbass driver should in my opnion better play down to 50hz easy for a 6.5, and the qsd's play down to 40hz easy, and acuretly.

Keyword is accurately and loudly. My 10" infiniti kappa perfect subs will play the 120-250Hz range easy... but that doesn't mean they sound good doing it.

Anyway- I'm glad to hear the QSD 164 midbass drivers are that capable because the UPS man has a pair with my name on them on the way!

The only company which makes that small subs is the Focal. Very high quality. I think you need to buy couple at once. The regular 6.5 is the MIDBASS type, which shouldn't play lower then 65Hz. I hve those in my doors, I run 85 watts per each. Sounds punchy and strong, but won't give you that bass which you'll get at least from 8" Image Dynamics.
